My 1984 K100RS is the best! Not sure what kind of roads you people been riding on, but the kind I ride on leaves most jap bikes in 2nd gear while my K bike flies round them drifting and shaking. She's done 120,000ks standard everything except the rear Koni shock and the 6 20cent coins in each front forks, and that mean belly pan that makes her stick like glue on the highways approaching 240klm. Oh yeah and a Staintune pipe so them Jap tourists hear me coming over the top of them lol = Once the dozen or so normal problems are sorted you will have one damn fine unit lol... Don't forget - who needs instant speed when you can fly over the top when the twists n turns are only 20k's down the road?

Bought a 2 valve K100RS after owning a K75 for a year. In the last nine months I have done 15000 miles on the brick, including a quick blast across the Alps and the only failure has been a front light bulb! Bike had 36K on clock in spring. OE rear shock and steering head bearings were shot. Once replaced handling was transformed to...... average and unexceptional. Bike is way too heavy, feels massively top heavy. This is actually a bonus on motorways and straight smooth roads but be prepared to chill out and take in the sceney on B roads. A Puch Maxi would probably be more entertaining on the really twisty stuff!

There is an agreeable amount of torque right from the off, but for a 1000cc bike engine feels buzzy and gutless at top end. Just as well because given average handling high speed shenanigans definitely not recommended. Bike takes a long time to warm up on a run and is definitely happier doing heroic distances than town work, although engine flexible enough to cope with both. Standard bars are an ergonomic nightmare, but K-75C bars will fit (top brakeline needs to be changed). Aeroflow screen eliminates wind noise but is pricey. Shaft and bevel box worn at 50k due to neglect of basic maintenance. Eighty-ninety mph crusing possible dawn til dusk if handling 100% sorted. Progressive springs in front and progressive shock or better on back (

Beware spares on 16 valve K100 RS cost twice that of the 8 valve. Totally reliable. Hour after hour of pain free touring. Doddle to service. Stable handling, rather heavy in tight bends. Confident in wet (with bridgestone 020's). Just spent a day on a blackbird and wasn't tempted to buy one. The K100 RS could just be the bike for you.

Comfortable, fast and reliable. Clutch slips when hot and under extreme pressure and can shear (ie hard acceleration). Mine's just gone over 100000 miles and I expect another 100 from it. Parts cheap, but fairings impossible to find intact.

Mine is an ex-police bike with the single seat etc. still on. Scares the crap out of car drivers even without the markings. Very fast - 220kph and rock solid handling. Brakes could be a little better though. Very heavy to get on centre stand and not easy to manoeuvre at low speed due to the weight. A really good allrounder however.

Had her for eight years and done over 80,000 miles. Bike has done 160,000 mls. Totally usefull, does everything, reliable, cheap to get spares for and easy to service. Have crossed makes of tyres, Pirelli Match back and Bridgestone front, not recommended but fantastic handling for a tourer. The Bridgstone is much better grip in the wet so more confidence and no handling problems in the fast dry. A friend has also tried the same mix and has found same benefits. An all round bike and I doubt I could find another that does so much for the price. Can ride on the National Rally for 24 hours and can still walk. Big fairing is great for winter but a bit hot in the summer. Could do with a bit more grunt but then what would I have to compromise?

Stripped mine down to the basics, not so heavy, quicker with a race can. Solid and stable handling and very very reliable around 150000 miles and still going strong! Fitted paralever rear end (160 rear tyre) and race pipe
