This is definitely one of my favourite bikes... It's so easy to care for and still doesn't need much maintenance even though I've had it for years and years. It handles really nicely as it's so light, which means riding is really smooth. Also, I'd say it's one of the most comfortable bikes to ride thanks to its nice seat and low footpegs. All that and it looks great! Plus I never have to worry about speed, even with a heavy load.

Other than for fast, big mileage touring, this is the nicest bike I've owned. I've owned well over 20 bikes, 6 of which have been BMW's, and this is a cracking machine. Superbly built (much better than the modern Beemers), cheap and simple to maintain (shaft drive, electronic ignition fitted, air cooling, cheap tyres, stainless exhaust), comfortable (great seat, screen fitted, footpegs are quite low), nice handling due to low weight and superb smoothness due to the smaller engine of 600cc. This is much smoother than the bigger boxers, especially the 1000cc R100 series, which are lumpy, especially in town traffic. My R60 gives 200 miles from a full tank before reserve, whatever roads I'm on. It'll cruise at 80 on the motorway with luggage. The electrics and headlight are superb and the front and rear drum brakes, despite being down on power compared to modern brakes, have a good, solid feel and are adequate. The bike is in black with gold pin striping. Insurance is cheap and road tax is
