All Aprilia SL Falco Reviews
Aprilia SL Falco 1000cc Sept '01 (51)
Overall Rating:

The best bike I have ever owned, great performance and reliability and much more comfort than the average Jap Super Sports. Also has great character and so much torque to outdrag most things out of bends across a much wider rev range. Even after 2 1/2 years I still get a buzz every time I ride it. Brilliant!!

Owned one the last five years, 35k totally reliable decent handling once set up and very fast on the road. Dealers let the brand down but so do most others.

Handles beautifully provided you set her up properly. Rather a fierce throttle response from low revs - that'll be V-twin then - the Metzeler's tend to go off quickly if you commute in them - they prefer twisties and racers prefer Bridgestone 010's etc. Splendid paint work, striking, sexy (they all tell me) lines and yes - it does get you noticed as there ain't many about. It helps if you're tall if you don't want to drop her too often as the bike feels heavier at rest than the published weight (190Kg). Slight tweaks - free flow air kit, 15 tooth sprocket, cans - change this from a wolf in sheeps clothing to a slavering monster on the track. It's that simple. Brakes are nearly too good but you need strong hands and a good reach to make the best of the controls. Some enthusiastic riders report problems with warped disks which is a warranty item - see below. Riding position is half-way to the racing position so some raise the bars, which is easily done. I'm old fashioned and prefer to ride the bike the way they made 'em. One of the best things about this bike is when you buy it you buy into a communicaty of Falconeers. Check it out on the Internet and meet up with the rest of us....Difficulties finding a good official dealer and Aprilia seems to be at 6's and 7's with just about everyone at present (Feb '02). Spares can be slow and warranty claims can take forever. This bike is not about going to the South of France in a single day. It's about finding your favourite piece of bendy B-road and going for it. It's about track days. Its about having fun
