Simply astonished at how overlooked this bike has been - I cannot think of a more underrated machine. A fantastic, proven engine, surefooted handling, excellent comfort levels and very striking looks make it a fantastic buy. Admittedly, you've got to cope with crap Aprilia customer service and God help you if you drop a Futura, but we all have our crosses to bear. The Fut won the Bike magazine sports tourer test in 2003 and the US magazine Sportrider's one in Jan 2005. It offers an interesting, individual alternative to the competent blandness that is the ubiquitous VFR.

I've had my bike for about 7 months now, but have only be driving it for 5 months. Its a great looking bike especially as my repsol edition is quite rare, turns heads all the time. But the performance isn't great. Mines been de-restricted and reaches 50-55 max, but this is because I added a K&N air filter but haven't re-jetted the bike, so there isnt enough fuel getting to the engine. Everything else is standard. They can go fast up to 75+ but with a bit of work, and if youre driving like that constantly it'll probably blow.

Hi! I'm soon buying a 50cc motorbike. Can anyone plz advise me on the one i should get. Reading all these reviews I don't know what to believe because some people say they're very good but others say they're rubbish. Do they really go 75mph when tuned up???

Mate are you being serious my RS50 is 100 times better looking than any TZR, I have a white Poggiali model with a black screen, fasmem duo exhaust (thats an exhaust either sideof the rear seat) I have got my pasenger seat changed so its white material, white rim tape thats a cheap modification but looks the dogs, i also have red neons and an i-pod system in the rear seat. As for speed I would race any TZR as they are 5 STONE heavier than an RS50, especially with my 14 + 42 gearing and my fasmem duo exhaust I can hit 72 on the flat with good weather. So tzr driver who reakon you can hit 70 just deristricted you are lying..

I've got a Rieju RS2. 06 edition and it p*sses all over the RS50 gp1 my mate has - and he has a metrakit racing exhaust and carbon reeds. These bikes are unreliable and dont last longer than a year or two, they are so common and just generally suck. A new one is ok but not worth the money. I recommend a GPR50r or a Rieju. The only Aprilia worth a look is the RSV or possibly some newer 12's
