I've had my Cougar for approx 5 months and have since ridden 2,000miles on it in all weathers. I don't have a garage so it lives outside all the time. this bike is brilliant for learners wanting something easy to pass their test on (or Commuters). Very comfy, easy to ride, 120 + MPG, low insurance., gets lots of positive comments, most say it sounds and looks like a bigger bike (it does). My bike has done 4600mls with NO problems of any sort - BUY ONE !

I bought the Gilera 125 only to get to work and back and I must say it has been more than excellent; never let me down, very easy to ride and also turns heads. I took my bike test and passed on it and would advise any body who wants to learn to ride this bike is a must. Cheap to run and I've had 73mph and 210miles to the tank, good luck to any body who buys one you will not be sorry. Have fun; I did. now sorry to let it go but I just bought a Bandit 600.

Tons of care and attention spent on this bike which when it goes is fantastic. But requires tons of cash to keep it alive due to gileras poor build quality for this model. There are better 125's availble for your money!!!

This bike is rubbish. It looks good, it sounds great, and goes like stink, but the bodywork and the mechanical reliability are foul. The bike simply falls apart people.. DON'T BUY PLEEEASE. I'VE HAD 3 SPEEDOS, 1 TAIL LIGHT, 3BACK WHEELS AND A NEW HEADLIGHT (A YAMAHA ONE) GREAT ON FUEL, BUT ONLY BUY IF YOU'RE INSANE OR GETTIN ONE FOR

After owning various scooters (great fun) for 5 years I decide to move on so when I saw the Cougar for the same price as a scoot I finally decided why not. Even though it is only a wee 125 it certainly turns heads and gets respect from the big boys (so to say). Have owned it for a year now and done 6500 miles to date. Handles so easy and rides great. The only real problem is that when you hit 70 mph the speedo starts to go backwards, strange. Could really do with a bit more poke but 4 a 125 criuser it's ok. 90/100

I've had my second hand Coguar for coming up a year and a half now, mostly for round-about-town riding, but have done several 150 mile trips. It handles well, looks good, sounds great and parts are not too expensive (if you source from other than the dealers). Technical information for diy repairing is very basic in the user's manual and there seems to be next to no other publications (e.g. a Haynes manual) to help either. Like a previous contributor to this feedback section, I've also achieved 70+mph (admittedly, with a following wind) and have no problems with speed: after all, it's a cruiser not a racer. Being a late learner (at 40 years old!) I wanted something that looked something more than a moped and have not been disappointed with the coguar except in that I'm now starting to look for a more powerful machine now that my riding experience has grown, and also to better pull my bulk up some of the steep local roads. I thoroughly recommend this bike to any learner/commuter/etc., male or female. It's like a baby Harley to me.

All trhe same problems as everybody else I think. The speedo is about 15 mph out up to 60,then it just oscillates between 0 and 100 at random, this is the second speedo. The plastic chain guard broke across the rear fitting hole, the second one has just gone the same way, the front chain guard also broke across the fitting holes all in all the plastic bits are crap poorly made horribly expensive and badly fitted. The chain seems to grow a couple of centimetres a day, the spokes in the rear wheel broke (six of them) andd the lamps drop like leaves in autumn. So far so good , on the other hand it looks great, does approx 102 mpg top speed might be 70 -80 depending on how the speedo feels on the day, handles really well the brakes are well up to the job but as somebody else already said the rear brake squeals when wet I travel into London every day do about 500 miles a week and apart from bits dropping off regularly I really enjoy riding the beast oh I forgot to mention the battery also died but at least bump staring is realy easy.

I bought a 2 1/2 year old Gilera Coguar for my girlfriend a couple of months ago, as her first bike after she passed her CBT. Firstly, I have to say that the chrome had suffered because of TOTAL neglect by the previous female owner, and her apathetic father. Otherwise, after a day of fettling, we now have the bargain bike of the year. It rides very well indeed, economy is outstanding, the engine (Honda OHC CityFly) is unburstable. Brakes are powerful for a small bike; and all those whinges about chains failing after 8000 miles... GET SOME CHAIN LUBE, DIMWITS! In any case, a new chain and sprocket set = 30 quid. Peanuts. Most 125 learner bikes are ridden by people with no mechanical knowledge, and expect everything to run on fresh air and no maintenance. Pathetic. Give this stylish bike the praise it deserves. This bike is a real head-turner, and is brilliant to ride. Any Italian machine is going to be a little short on finish, (especially chrome plating) so keep it clean, wax polished and all will be OK! I've ridden it many times, and it will do 65mph with me weighing nearly 100kg. Superb. Get a life, get a Coguar while they are cheap, and ENJOY! PS By the way, I also ride a Triumph Trident for touring, and commute using a Honda CG125 (which is gutless, styleless, nervous and has crap brakes compared to the Coguar)
