I love my Gilera. I bought it with 3,600 miles on the clock and I am the second owner. It has been de-restricted, its so nippy. My partner got 64mph out of it. Its a great looking bike, turns a few heads. I've never ridden a bike before in my life but I find this easy to ride. Starts like a dream, just one push of the button and you're off!!!

Brililant bike, want to put upgrade kit or big bore or racing tuned kit or anything that will make it faster, but no one knows of any, I would appreciate so much, and might even pay for information as to where I can get the kits. Bike is great, but I want that extra speed. plz help if you know of tuning kits.

Gilera DNA 180cc Apr '02 (02)
Overall Rating:
Review
I first bought a Gilera DNA 180 about a year ago which broke down after a week. I had to leave it in a very dodgy area overnight and despite having a wheel-lock, it was stolen then recovered two days later (beyond economic repair). The replacement arrived 2 months later and though it had a blown fuse after a week, it's been a pleasure since, not a single fault after 1000 miles. Admittedly I have had my helmet stolen from it, and one night thieves broke in to steal the battery and fuses, but these are things that only happen once because you then make alternative arrangements as to where you keep it etc., and is more a factor of living in north London than the bike itself. Handling is great (better than Cagiva Mito anyway!), extremely practical and fast enough to beat nearly anything at the lights. What more do you need? My only criticism (and it is a small one) is the riding position which sometimes feels as though there's too much weight on your hands/handlebar. This may be more of a problem over very long distances (which is obviously not what this bike was designed for)

The most futuristic bike of its day that still pulls the crowds now and turns more heads than a Ducati 996

Purchased in Germany, unused and new in 1998. Still unused. Great looking bike, but has basically no practical use. Think of it as a mini Bimota Tesi, but not a work-a-day commuter. Don't buy other than for collection.

Have the bike for 8 months now and its barely been out of the shop, one thing seems to go wrong after the other. That said the last 3 months have been trouble free and it really is growing on me, Good handling, comfortable riding position and good looking bike, must say i'm getting tired of 55mph, any suggestions besides buying another bike?

I have had my SKP for about 8 months now, and its OK. It's still restricted but will do about 32 on the flat, and 38 downhill (wind assisted). Its a great bike around town and its just the right size for cutting through dense traffic, whilst still being big enough to be noticable. My main problem is the seat height - I can only just get toe on the floor, but then I am 5'2"! I have had a few electrical problems, like a horn that wont work (switch replaced free under warranty), and now its a real challenge to start (you gotta give it open half open throtlle and then rev the sh*t out of it before it will kick into life - every time I take it in it starts fine 'cos its warm) but once its running its ok. It handles like its on scalextric in the dry, but if you bank it round tight bends flat out in the wet you can still push the back end out :-). The lights are awful, and the instrument dials and clock are full of condensation, in spite of the fact it is stored in the garage most of the time. I am pleased with it, and would recommend it to anyone, but still hope to get a VFR 400 once I have done my full test!
