Hey, i hav a DNA - 4 bout a month now. Still restricted. When derestricted with a Leo Vince handmade ZX exhaust, Malossi kevlar belt and Malosii air filter they CAN go over 75 mph (yeah right). Not as powerful as the Aprilia RS50, but much more fun! Great bike if u no how to fix it yer sen n avoid problems!

Well i've put it in the scooters category BUT it has a motorcycle riding position, handling & image... all with the easiness of 'twist n go' scooter automatic engine. Pretty fast - as long as you don't do motorways!

Bought a DNA 125 to replace my rubbish runner, handling is brilliant compared to a normal scoot, you can realy throw it around on a twisty back road and realy get the speed up on straights. Had some problems with it, but nothing major. Just turned it into a DNA 210cc with the addition of a big bore kit. Also added a gear up kit and a variator kit,got a stainless steel exhaust as well. Good for 90-95mph now.

Despite the exhaust which is a bit chunky and rusts quickly, the Gilera DNA125 is a very good bike. It has very good acceleration and is very reliable, the fastest speed I have had the bike at is 74mph, some say 80mph is possible. Ok this bike isn't as fast or as nice as an Aprilia RS125 or a Cagiva Mito or a Honda NSR125. But for a 4-stroke 125 this bike is very good. Overall opinion: Despite the exhaust this bike is very good.

Brand new 125SP Stolen after just 3 months from front garden of my house in Walthamstow! If you don't have a ground anchor - or something solid to lock it to then it will go, simple as that. Do you think those kids with the jogging bottoms that cut you up at the lights bought theirs? think again..... I want to but a Malaguti Phantom now but will need to construct a 10 foot thick solic concrete bunker 3000 ft below my house to stop those scallywags getting to it. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Gilera Coguar 125cc Sept '02 (52)
Overall Rating:

After owning various scooters (great fun) for 5 years I decide to move on so when I saw the Cougar for the same price as a scoot I finally decided why not. Even though it is only a wee 125 it certainly turns heads and gets respect from the big boys (so to say). Have owned it for a year now and done 6500 miles to date. Handles so easy and rides great. The only real problem is that when you hit 70 mph the speedo starts to go backwards, strange. Could really do with a bit more poke but 4 a 125 criuser it's ok. 90/100

I've had my second hand Coguar for coming up a year and a half now, mostly for round-about-town riding, but have done several 150 mile trips. It handles well, looks good, sounds great and parts are not too expensive (if you source from other than the dealers). Technical information for diy repairing is very basic in the user's manual and there seems to be next to no other publications (e.g. a Haynes manual) to help either. Like a previous contributor to this feedback section, I've also achieved 70+mph (admittedly, with a following wind) and have no problems with speed: after all, it's a cruiser not a racer. Being a late learner (at 40 years old!) I wanted something that looked something more than a moped and have not been disappointed with the coguar except in that I'm now starting to look for a more powerful machine now that my riding experience has grown, and also to better pull my bulk up some of the steep local roads. I thoroughly recommend this bike to any learner/commuter/etc., male or female. It's like a baby Harley to me.

All trhe same problems as everybody else I think. The speedo is about 15 mph out up to 60,then it just oscillates between 0 and 100 at random, this is the second speedo. The plastic chain guard broke across the rear fitting hole, the second one has just gone the same way, the front chain guard also broke across the fitting holes all in all the plastic bits are crap poorly made horribly expensive and badly fitted. The chain seems to grow a couple of centimetres a day, the spokes in the rear wheel broke (six of them) andd the lamps drop like leaves in autumn. So far so good , on the other hand it looks great, does approx 102 mpg top speed might be 70 -80 depending on how the speedo feels on the day, handles really well the brakes are well up to the job but as somebody else already said the rear brake squeals when wet I travel into London every day do about 500 miles a week and apart from bits dropping off regularly I really enjoy riding the beast oh I forgot to mention the battery also died but at least bump staring is realy easy.
