Honda FX 650cc Apr '02 (02)
Overall Rating:
Review
Honda FX650 is a fun bike to ride, it is also a great commuter with its low seat height. Light weight and torquey 650cc single cylinder engine which all helps to let you cut through the traffic easily and safely.
These bikes are put together in Spain so build quality is not always a match for the Japanese built bikes, the engine unit is built in Japan and has the usual Honda bullet proof reliability.
This is a great bike to start riding again if you haven't been riding for a few years as it is very forgiving and has plenty of torque to get you out of trouble.
Its not a motorway basher but it is fun round the lanes and B roads.

My bike seems to be leaking oil from a couple of tubes underneath the bike when running. Does anyone know why?

Bought this bike as a pure commuter (15 miles each way mod. to heavy traffic), I had been doing this trip for 2 years on my FJ1200 which, as the best all round bike ever, it did superbly. I`d decided to give the FJ a rest and promote it to touring/weekend only. I bought the Vigor (stupid name) with 1000 genuine miles on and it is a HOOT. On start up it sounds "cheeky" and poots around nicely but open the throttle and it GRUNTS! 1st and 2nd gears seem to get in the way as they are passed through very quickly on the way to the "work" gears of 3rd and 4th. Loads of power in both and very smooth through traffic. 5th gear is an out and out cruising gear as the bike seems to be in the wrong gear if you use it doing less than 50mph, but in 5th it will go faster than the rider can hold on as there is NO protection from the silly screen.< >< >Good points:< >60MPG+< >Loads of power< >Smooth power delivery< >Small size< >Nimble in traffic< >< >Needs:< >Better screen/fairing< >Centre stand< >Better mirrors (give good views of my arms)
