Honda NSR 125cc Apr '01 (Y)

Okay this is a great learner bike and can roll with the bigger bikes and has the looks to match.
I'm not saying it has blistering speeds 'cos lets face it, its a 125 and anything bigger than that will out run it in a straight line. In corners however it handles brilliantly.

For example, today I was on my ride back from collage when a 750 decided to race me and he got left in the corners the only frustrating thing is that he soon caught back up on the straighs.
The bike is fast for a 125. Mine is standard and hits 110mph (derestricted obv) but above 90 it takes a while and you really need to push it in 5th gear to keep it in the powerband for 6th or you're just going to sit there.
As for RS killing power it can't. Simply I have a 1/4 mile drag strip near my house which I race on with a few mates (1 of which has an RS) and he starts to pull away at around 50-60 but there's not alot in it.
I've riden his RS and much prefer the NSR. It has a much better ride position and the sound is okay compared to the hairdryer that is the RS125.
Fuel economy is what you would expect. I go to college on it and thats a 70mile round trip and £6 does it and thats fast riding and I can also happily walk away from the bike after without any pains or numbness which is useful.

One thing I will say though is don't spend tons and tons of money on a 125 even if you think 100mph will be fast enough for you. Trust me its not how fast it goes its how it gets you there and a 125 just isn't quick enough.
After 5 months of riding i'm gettin' bored and want something more powerful so im taking my test ready for the summer.
Overall the bike has done well I have had no mechanical faults at all. Its quick enough for a learner, great handling and has definetly tought me alot about riding
P.s I would give it a 5 rating but I can't for a 125 they're just not fast enough

I upgraded to this \'bad boy\' from my previous RG125 Gamma and I couldn\'t believe the difference. Cost me 800 quid and had just had a full rebuild. I\'ve had 100mph out of it but the front end started to shake a little so I slowed down, althouh this is probably because I had a leaking fork seal. Other than that it\'s an awesome bike, always starts first time and didn\'t even grumble when I came off it last week, just picked it up and rode on less one indicator. (damn diesel on the road).

An amazing learner bike for someone moving up from a 50cc moped. The NSR has all the speed you need and will comfortably cruise at 70mph... I dont know why poeple are saying its a slow bike. I admit, its not as fast as an RS or a Mito but i keep up with my friends when we go out. Where reliability is concerned I have never had a problem with mine, it always starts first time and does what its meant to do. Now compare that to an RS or a Mito. If anyone wants to buy a small sportsbike or a sporty little learner bike, the NSR is perfect. 10/10. I honestly cannot fault it...

Mine just got stolen and burnt but I de-restricted via exhaust and carb and went up a tooth on the front sprocket and down a tooth on the rear. It hit a ton on the flat. Killed all RS125' etc. in my area! Great bike and would love another but still paying 4 first one- lol. ps Apparently they should hit bout 120 with the rite money.

Good first bike. Poor acceleration, especially uphill but I suppose you can't expect too much from an 80cc engine.

Great first sports bike - got mine Stan Stevens tuned. Also has Arrow and power filter. I haven't been beaten by any other 125cc since
