I needed a newer bike that had a sensible seat not a perch and good brakes which the X11 has.(Bike mad daughter on the back). A guy at work had an X11 for sale; I had to look it up on the web. Picked the bike up from him and headed home. Got to the motorway slip road and thought was what I had read just hype both good and bad, as it was acting like a real lady. So I nailed the X or should I say it blew me way...lights around me started to streak like in Star Wars when they go into hyper-space. I am used to large cc bikes of yesteryear but the X11 demands respect so I am happily re-learning how to ride to my limits. I got indoors with the daftest smile ever according to my wife, which returns whenever I take her out the bike not the wife. A "Q"bike for all seasons.

bought this bike a year ago and being a two bike kind of person i am now considering selling my duc and getting another x11. the bike has been totally faultless (touch wood) unlike my ducati where your constantly having to fix something, pulls turbine smooth through the gears and top gear roll on is exceptional, this is a great bike for all occasions and i generally do 300 mile runs, 200 mile tank range is achievable if ridden sensibly ave is 160-170, ive had my seat re-profiled with a softer foam which makes a big difference, other sensible extras ive fitted are givi screen (just for winter), fenda extenda and rear hugger keeps down pipes and shocker areas cleaner, gear indicater and the best thing ive ever bought, heated grips. also tried bar risers which although a touch more comfortable i found i preferred the slightly more forward riding poition. you will not be dissapointed with this machine, the handling and power are well beyond what mere mortals would need but make no mistake this bike is a docile easy to ride machine, very forgiving with good manners. the linked brakes are excellent and as a 30 year biker i found it hard to notice the difference. surprisingly this bike gets loads of attention, probably because ther are so few about, it looks squat & wide. all parts are easilly available. so if your thinking of getting one GO NOW i guarantee you wont be dissapointed.

Having thought about this for some time I've come to the conclusion that the reason why the press hated the X11 and very few people bought it was because, 10 years ago, everyone had a blinkered view about "retro". If it had no fairing on it then it had to be retro. The reviewers pitted it against the Suzuki Bandit, the Kawasaki ZRX1200 and the Yamaha XJ1300 and found the others to be better retro bikes. If now in 2007 they pitted it against the 1050 Speed Triple, the 990 SuperDuke, the K1200R, the B-King, the Z1000 and the FZ1 it would, even at ten years old, come out very favourably if noy clinch it in that annoying Honda way. The difference is that the market now understands that these bikes have huge amounts of enjoyment to offer and are taken seriously. Honda's only mistake with the the X11 (apart from the name admittedly) was to be 10 years ahead of the game. Discuss.

I was concerned about the wind blast I might get from an X11. Having asthma, I've always bought a bike with a plastic weather sack wrapped round it.. I was driving a Kawasaki ZX9R when I decided too read up on the X11. Being 56 now and arthritis starting to be an issue with the sports position, I wanted something comfortable but didn't want too pay ST1100 prices or Blackbird Insurance. I've been very impressed with the X11, Have fitted bar riser's to aid comfort, also a F15 screen and Powerbronze bellypan. Wind blast is no worse than most sports bikes, except the upright sitting position makes for more wind noise across helmet. Power is wonderful, once in top gear you have no need too change down for most road conditions, it goes round roundabouts in top and pulls away on the other side faster than any 600 that changed down two gears. Use all the gears and most sports bikes will only see your rear end and those two lovely exhaust pipes. Have to give this bike a rating of 9 out of 10.. It' only fallen to 9 due to increased noise over helmet.. Brilliant motorbike...

Got a bargain when I bought this bike. The shop reckoned no one wanted to buy it 'cus of bad press. My gain everyone else's loss. Superb bike. Bags and bags of power. Handlings good, almost knee down. Wind blast at speed same as any naked, would recommend screen fitted. grin factor.....120%. Say no morrrrrrr

The X-11 is and will be a Big Jap Classic, much slated by the performance bike/faired bike, power-ranger suit wearers. The X-11 has a following amongst the streetfighter riding community. The high levels of bhp and torque along with the blackbird based geometry combine to rid the X-11 of most of it's lard. Looks like a pitbull but shifts like a whippet, saw 160mph on a track day and who needs a fairing anyway !!!!!
