Ok lots of people will say that is not their dream bike, and there are better bikes on the market. I found out that this bike is heavy to lift out of a deep bog, as have just come back from a weekend in the I.O.M this is my second outing on the DRZ to the I.O.M ,the bike did its self proud, cheap to run many accessories to add on. If the latest off road rocket is out of reach then try a DRZ you might like it.

Death Wings... Had to go after the first day. Gearing, Had to change after the second day. Now this bike is capable of running me around on the highway at the cost of my dirt tires and some top end speed. But, More importantly, When I get off road and a jump is coming, It now has the power needed to get over without pigging and letting the front drop out. I'd have given it a ten if it weren't for these small changes made. A bit heavier than what I'm used to RM 250. But all in all quite a good ride. No RPM gauge... How the heck do you break in a bike with no rev gauge? I got about 200 miles on it in stock condition, changed the break in oil, and now am riding it the way I will always ride it. Will jump some more smaller stuff and then start to tweak the suspension a bit to stiffen it up for larger jumps. Went to 14-47 sprockets which lit it right up. Nice for in the woods and again, Instant power for the off roader. Now it tops out @ about 75 and runs at a reasonable rev @ 55-60. Wish it had 6th gear... Only real bitch with the lower gearing but no need to run any faster for me. I'd rather have the power to get that front up than run faster on the road. Ever go over forwards on a jump? Not cool!

If you want the Best trail bike currently on the market it is the only bike to have. Plenty of after market mods for those who take riding to the extreme. Only critisism I have is on the S model the gearing is a little to tall for slow trails but dropping a tooth or 2 on the front sprocket fixes that, costs about a fiver. The tyres on the S model are called trailwings nicknamed deathwings for good reason, while they are good on the road they are absolutely lethal off road my advice is don't even think of taking the bike off road with the deathwings you WILL come off. In summary the DRZ does nothing outstanding but does every thing great. Best 400 on the market by far
