i recently bought an 8 year old suzuki dr200 djebel from a fellow who didnt really look after his bikes, i paid £550 for a low mileage (6500 miles) but apart from the engine the rest of the dr was taty and also surface rust with lack of use, it even had a 2 stroke exhaust on so you can imagine it coughed and backfired a bit, so after forking out for new original exhaust, 2 new tires, mirrors, brake pads, cables, a bit of spraying, a full service, it is now the reliable bike it should be and runs superb, the size is great not massive but big enough to clearly see over the trafic, miles per gallon is excelent allthough only 20 bhp and not a massive top speed(im 20st and it cruises at 60mph) if you are not to heavy it is quite adequate, the dr200 is geared well and does not falter when pulling up massive hills and seems to have loads of tourque, being a 4 stroke it will happily cruize all day and is excelent for comuting in a bit more style than the average comutor, handeling is fine for this kind of bike but brakes are only adequate, the seat is comfortable up to about an hour but the ride is good and instils confidence in the rider, this bike is excelent for light off road or green lanes, in the past i have owned dtr 125's and couldnt put the power down because not enough torque and to much acceleration for example half way up a jiant of a mud hill in a precarious position and the rear wheel would spin out but not the dr allthough it dosn't have the raw power of a 2 stroke it does have enough torque to keep you out of trouble, on the down side there is no aftermarket exhaust for this model so you will have to order this from suzuki japan, also if you want a bit more power a company called keintech does a modification to increase the bhp on the dr200 which consists of an exhaust mod(you send them your silencer) and also a jet kit that comes with it(you also have to drill a hole in the air box) but in my opinion its not worth the money for 3 or 4 bhp, i would definately recomend this bike ideally to someone who commutes or likes to do some light green laneing or both. also parts are quite cheep and plenty of second hand parts

I bought this one as a 9 year old secondhand bike which wasn't very well looked after. After changing the oil, oil filter and cleaning the sponge air filter it runs really well. Starts first time even when left for a couple of months. It's the off road model and that's the only place I've ridden it so I don't know what they are like on the road.< >< >It's good fun, lightweight, has a nice wide 4 stroke powerband. Easy to control, easy to ride. The brakes have plenty of feel for stopping on loose ground. I'd consider buying another DR350 or DR400 as I've been very happy with this one.

Bloody good bike, our first thumper ( my partner and mine). You sit nice and high and with the baffle in the power pipe muffler removed, the cars know your beside em. I'm currently running 16 tooth drive sprocket and 49 tooth rear sprocket, it takes off like an old chook chaser but I really want to give it more legs, any suggestion will be helpful. Thanks peoples - jules and bryan, east coast of oz

First bike after a long break from the world of biking. Huge grin factor with this one. Use it to commute 30+ miles, sits at 70/80 nicely on the motorway. Sounds fantastic and as for starting it, well all the rumours are true, it can be a real beast but its all technique, I'm only ten stone!. The thing about it I don't like is the position of the fuel switch, it's on the right hand side and so flippin small that you can't switch it over when you go into reserve, a few exciting! moments have been had with this, middle lane over taking lorries!

Hefty for a supposed dirtbike but a great commuter. Easy to start when you know how,and I'm a little guy. 40 horses of loping power with a free flowing filter and exhaust make for a good wheelie machine up to about 40-50 mph. The brakes are crap but the engine braking helps matters. Stick a larger front sprocket on it,stronger clutch springs, stiffen the suspension, then add road type tyres then have some cheap FUN. James.

I've bought my SP600 in 86 off a guy who could not handle the power!! I like the bike because friend ask to ride it and I say " If you start it, you can ride it..." It has no elctric start and it will break a leg if not done right.
