Had a Marauder for about a year before i swapped it for my current bike.

The Marauder was great fun to ride, looked bigger than a 125 and got admiring looks wherever she went. She was cheap to run and so much fun. I loved her and was really sad to see her go but i just couldn't ride her any more due to health problems and it was awful to see her sitting in the garage not going anywhere. The guy who's got her now uses her regularly and always has a smile on his face.

Suzuki GZ125 Marauder

I bought this bike new one year ago and done 4500km on her. Its a great bike to learn on and commute to work.
It has to be the most comfortable 125 available. It has a large soft leather seat that I can sit in all day and foot forward controls for a relaxed ride.

As with all cruisers it doesn't like corners too well, but with practice you'll soon be racing around the bends.

Shes a big beast for a 125 and is more sturdy to ride than a smaller bike (eg Honda CG).It's great for distance traveling on smaller roads, and capable of decent speed (70mph) on large ones.

I have been on many adventures over the past year and loved every moment sitting in my 'armchair with wheels'.
I'm now looking to sell her for a larger bike, but will miis it dearly. In conclusion; its a great bike if you want style and comfort.

I love my Marauder! Yes it's slow, but that is the whole point. It is the perfect bike to give you confidence when you are first starting to ride. After 6 months on my 125 I have now upgraded to a 1200 Harley, but I still feel sad about selling Maurice (as I named him). For anyone wanting to eventually ride something like a Harley, the Marauder is the perfect starting point. It already has the raked forks and the feet forward riding position, and (from a distance) it doesn't look out of place riding with a pack of Harleys. My advice is to buy a 2nd hand one for learning, because you will drop it, but keep it clean and you will still get back enough money to pay the deposit on your new bike.

Apart from dropping this bike when I took my CBT on it, I can't see what all the fuss is about. Yeah its cheap to run, but its crap at cornering and talk about rust! As for all the extra bits that everyone is on about, where the hell do you get them from? Don't get me wrong, I DO love my bike, but I'm ready for something that can do more than 50 MPH with a following wind!

7 days old. First looks are impressive, feels really comfortable. Currently running it in so not really "pushing" it. Takes a while to get up to 50mph and sounds like it wants to explode. I can certainly feel that there is more output available once it is properly run in. Great-sounding 125 at low speed - phut, phut phut ! Only real problem has been changing from 1st to 2nd gear - too often it "misses" and you end up just reving the engine - you have to give it a real good push up with your foot. I already knew from other reviews that it toils up hill - too true ! Great head turner though !

Hi i have only had this bike a couple of days and it sounds and runs like a dream. This is my first bike and would highly recomend it to anybody. As it was my first bike I was recomend to buy a second hand bike but I decided to spend the little extra 0f 800 pound and buy new. I think i made the right decision because I got 1 year free insurance, tax and breakdown cover by the AA. The bike cost 2000 pounds with all that thrown in plus free delivery.

Bought mine a few months back for a little over £1000. '03 plate with only 2.5k miles on the clock... bargin! Never riden a motorbike until my CBT and passed it first time... not bad huh?!

It certainly is a learners bike. It's big, it's heavy, it screams "I want to go faster!!" For a 125 it is, in fact, pretty damn good. Flat out I've had it at 70mph (down hill, wind behind me) but the vibrations above 55mph tend to get a bit disconcerting, especially to a new rider.

Comfort is great. It's a real sit up and beg bike. None of this 'over the tank' stuff. It's meant to be driven, not thrashed (although opening her up full can be fun =D) so there is no need to have yourslef curled in a ball.

The handling is quite responsive. Tyres stick to the road too but with the low position of the footpegs I've ground them out, and my foot, on numerous occasions. At high speed and at a reasonable amount of lean you can feel a slight wobble coming on. Although I'm not sure if that's me nearly bottling it or a bit of a speed wiggle. You can quite safely flick it from left to right and it'll do it for you. It's no sports bike, but it can turn. It has a long wheelbase however so Turns in the road can cause hastle.

Brakes are good. Single disk front and drum rear. Nice and easy pad removal, not had to re-shoe the rear yet (thank god! Not looking forward to taking off the rear wheel at all!!) At the moment I'm relying solely on my front as a had a bit of a smash the other day and bent the rear brake lever... whoops! I'm ok though, in case you wondered... no? Ok, back to the bike.

The tank is one of the best features of this machine. 70mpg, over 200 miles on 1 tank... bargain. I've just had to fill the tank up from empty and it cost £9. Running costs are unbelievable.

The bike hasn't not started on me yet. Manual choke to contend with however, I usually don't bother. Tweak the throttle slightly, hit the start button and she usually fires up first time. If not then certainly before the third. The only problem is keeping the engine running. On many occasions I've found myself approaching a roundabout. Clutch in to change down and *phut* engine dies. This only happens when it is cold though (like I said, manual choke) once the the engine is warm, you'll have nothing to worry about.

Speed really isn't an issue for me. Maybe for others, but if you get this bike don't expect to keep up with the CBR 125's and Mito's and DNA's etc. (especially if what the riders on here say are true!) As I said above... built for riding, not thrashing. Having said that though there is plenty of grunt for such a heavy machine. 2nd - 4th gears click nicely and the ratios are just right. 5th is to low. You hit it and you'll hear the engine die a little. You have to keep it pinned in 4th for a bit and when you start to go downhill, flick it up. Of course, I'm sure all the engine parts are tuneable and can be upgraded for a price. I prefer to leave it stock however. It's a heav bike, 70mph is your lot (stock), if your lucky.

Dream Appeal...? Well, I'm sure lads and lasses dream of these types of bikes. Muscle bikes, cruisers, Harleys and the like. It looks bigger than it is. I've been asked if it was a 250 or even a 400 once. I don't think you'd dream of this bike. I'll be honest, I didn't, but now I've got it I know I'll be riding it for while to come yet.

In conclusion, get one. If you like the style, like the low spending costs (just over £200 for insurance, no previous experience on bikes but I've driven cars for 5 years) and enjoy the thrill of just riding for the hell of it. But get one when winter is on the way out... it's bloody freezing out there otherwise!

Finished. Thanks for reading and I hope I've shed some light on this bike for you. Sorry to bore you but I tried to keep it fair and unbiased.

Just bought the bike last week for 950 with 3500 miles on the clock and I love it. Required polishing and general cleaning but now thats done its in pristine condition, perfect learner bike with enough power, unless you are on a steep hill. Very economical bike doing about 230 miles from one tank of fuel. Nice to ride at 50mph but vibrates a lot at high reves in top gear. Hoping to ride it for 2 years till i can ride 800 or 1500 Intruder but for now its more than enough bike for me

It's a riot to rag the cack out of. Trying to keep up with 125 2 strokes is so much fun - it corners surprisingly well. Only problems I've had are quick tyre wear and the bloody chrome wheels that tarnish so quick!. But I still love it!
