Suzuki RF 900cc 94/95 (M)
Overall Rating:
Review
Suzuki RF900

I have an RF900 94 model , (yes I know the '95 has a better rear shock never mind)!
I think this is one of the best if not the best all round sportsbike i have ever had the pleasure of getting my leg across,so to speak.
I have rode most bikes, had the first Honda Fireblade, (not a bad bike) compared to the RF, just a poor second class. Not the same torque, average handling, awful looking ,need I go on?
Whereas the RF,is a pretty thing, handles like a dream, quick, (so quick in fact it can deal with almost anything no problems at all. I use |Bridgestone tyres, yes tried the rest, ok for touring but I ride this RF to the limit so I need top tyres, hence the Bridgestones what an ALL round machine wish i could buy a new one.

Suzuki A100 100cc 94/95 (M)

An odd engine size these days, but when Suzuki was selling Suzuki A100s in the early seventies Yamaha and Kawasaki had their equivalents and Honda joined them later. It does though fall into a lower insurance bracket than 125s, which can help even now if you're being clobbered by your insurer.

What you get is a simple 2-stroke single cylinder motorcycle with a frame made of pressed steel. Strip the frame off of all things attached to it and it looks like a flat "T". It's rigid enough to cope with the power, just under 10bhp when working well, with four gears controlled by a heel-and-toe gear lever of the sort thought not to damage the non-motorcycling shoes the typical rider was imagined to want to wear.

Brakes are simple drums which are OK for the speeds you'll get to - just under 60mph crouched on the tank. (Suzuki claimed much more - don't believe them!) There is one instrument, a speedometer with no trip counter.

Maintenance is simple. Cleaning the baffle is the mucky job. Oil to the engine is fed by a metered pump. (Just keep an eye on the sight-glass.)The carburettor is buried in the engine casing neatly so doesn't get wet.

Economy: not good - 60mpg unless you rarely go above half throttle when you might get 80mpg. Riding position OK with quite a generous saddle for a pillion. But the rear footpegs are mounted on the swinging arm which can make two-up handling odd although it gives good leg room.

If you want fun in this engine size look at the Yamaha instead; or go up to 125cc where you start to get a proper small motorcycle. But for shorter journeys where the speed limit is seldom over 50mph you might just find one of these from its long production run that you can kick into life and get 40-50,000 trouble-free cheap miles from.

Suzuki VL Intruder 1500cc Apr '00 (W)

Suzuki VL1500 Intruder
I owned a VL1500LC for three years and I have to say it was great fun, always got noticed and people would want to know all about it.
The downside is, as with a lot of Suzuki bikes, the build quality, not the best and the chrome started pitting after a couple of winters, also servicing is a pain to do at home - loads of panels to come off to do anything.

Riding was great, even long trips, the seats are like armchairs and with a low seat height, both tall and short riders will be happy.
It is a very heavy bike and to move it around takes some doing, the engine is great with plenty of grunt and with aftermarket pipes sounds the biz and the bolt on bling is endless, even better/cheaper if ordered from the USA.

One thing I would add is, before you buy one, think about the colour first, the VL comes in some nasty looking choices, mine was red and white and looked stunning, there is also a grey and black, black and white, all look fine but the yellow and white ones and some of the other very light colours don't look so good, but that's only my opinion.
Anyway if you want a big cruser that pulls like a train, the VL1500LC is your bike, just keep it serviced and clean and it will do you proud and lady will love to sit on the back so you can ride for hours. Enjoy. Rog.

Suzuki SV 650cc Sept '03 (53)
Overall Rating:

Suzuki SV650

Fantastic all rounder bike for riers of all ages.
Handles well, great top speed and a comfortable riding position. As it is a v-twin it sounds great and pulls away quickly with loads of tourque.
As well as the SV650 being a nippy, all rounder 650 it has sharp and attractive good looks.
