What can I say that hasn't already been said by far better qualified commentators than me. Suffice to say this was always my dream bike and one that I never thought I would ever own but, luckily for me Mrs spartan had other ideas so now I am the very proud owner of a white 58 plate ST1300. It has fulfilled all of my expectations and then some from the smooth but powerful acceleration, the effortless cornering, unmistakable road presence, 50+ mpgh and phenmomenal stopping power. This is one hell of a bike that is built for comfort and mile eating comfort. I have spent up to eight hours in the saddle (not including rest stops) with no stiffness or discomfiture at all. Yes it is a big bike and at 300kgs plus it can be awkward moving it about to get it out of the garage but once it is moving it feels light and amazingly responsive. An excellent tourer just as Mr Honda claims but it is easily capapble of just riding it for fun. The build quality is just as you would expect from Honda; solid and efficient and the almost cockpit effect of riding with the screen all the way up is superb even if the roll back draught on your back feels as though your are being pushed towards the bars. The instrument configuration is well thought out and easy to look at. As you have probably gleaned from the above I am very impressed with my bike.

Aparently these bikes are very good. If you do want a 250 superdream, ask many questions. Otherwise you could have one like my old one.

First the good.

They are dirt cheap to buy.

Now for the Bad.

Depending how well they have been maintained anything can and maybe will go wrong.

My old one had slightly bent forks so more strain was on one arm than the other.

The carbs were out of balance severely. 70 MPH was just achievable so overtaking trucks was HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

Finally this one Guzzled oil like a 2 stroke.
The engine finally siezed on the M20 3 miles before the Ashford turn off.

The tank is very long so prepare to stoop over. The seat kinda compensates.

Overall this is a superdream with little dream appeal, choose wrong and it will be a super nightmare.

the cbr 1100 is a superb machine to ride only thing you need to do to them is add a double bubble screen as the original is a bit low and a rear hugger to keep the crap off the rear shock.
comfort wise for me it lets it'self down but apart from that it's warp speed mr sulu, better looking than a busa and the kwak zx12 by a country mile. ok they both go quicker but where you going to ride at ballistic speed all day long.
reliabilty is a1 and build quality is rock solid.

Just picked it up today, so a few first impressions and will follow up with a more detailed review later. Bringing it home from the seller's place involved 150 miles of motorway and A-road in pouring rain and high winds - not the best day to get used to a new bike. The ST is incredibly comfortable, very powerful, and handles like a much smaller bike. The stability at big lean angles is fantastic and although it is very heavy, it doesn't feel it once you are moving. Putting it away in the garage was a bit of a struggle though. The weather protection is the best - after 150 miles of driving rain, my light summer gloves were slightly damp but still comfy, and my suit had hardly any rain on it anywhere. The linked braking system is reassuring. I wouldn't want it on a sportsbike, but on a heavy tourer it works well. Mine is an ex-police bike, returned to civilian spec but still police white. You can have a lot of fun with this! I have never owned a big Honda before, but what everyone says is true - the build quality is amazing. And it seems to be reaonably economical - M-way at 80-100 and A-roads at 60-80, and it was giving me 50 mpg. I'll add more when I have some more to say. So far, I'm a very happy bunny.

Had my X4 now for three months, it goes like a rocket setting off, and is one of the comfiest bikes I've ever rode. It handles really well for a big bike and I've had quite a few, including a 'max' The CB1300 engine is a powerful beast and a thirsty one at that, but if you don't constantly thrash it everywhere then it's not bad. It'll keep with the sunday morning summer time thrashers and draw a crowd when it gets there.It doesn't pretend to be a plastic harley rip off and it certainly doesn't lurch around at the back of the pack shouting "I'll meet you there".Two up it still handles well, probably because of it's size. I don't know why the japs didn't import it into this country but if they had of done I think it would have quickly gained a cult following as it has in germany.(speedys X4 homepage and the X4 owners club)This bike is the mike tyson of the cruiser scene not the peter fonda so if you want quick and aggressive, bite you if you get too close styling, get an X4, not a 'I'm not quite a harley, but Im trying :( plastic easyrider! !Don't be a I'll get a copy of nut's cos I'm too scared and embarassed to go for the top shelf, type of biker, be a 'LET'S AVE IT' kind and wear them leathers with pride are you a man or a small furry mammal.OOPS ! sorry about that, getting carried away there, must be riding mi X4, it does that to ya ! aargh, aargh, aargh !

I bought this scooter second hand about 6 months ago because I was starting a new job in Central London, and as far as I'm concerned it's still the best way to get in and out of the City - on two wheels. I spent a long time reviewing lots of scooters after having owned most mainstream makes over the years. I chose a Honda because of the built quality and reliability, and as most Italian models seem to have the electrics put together by someone's very young Amazon dwelling cousin it was very refreshing to actually turn the key, press the start button and have the engine roar into life - first time, every time!

I was going to buy a Dylan but a Pantheon came up for about the same price and I'm very glad it did. The comfort is second to none (I used to have a Yamaha Majesty 250 and that was close), I get about 170 miles from £10 of petrol on busy roads and it has a cavernous storage area under the seat. One thing I still find eerily brilliant about this scooter is its balance - It's amazing!

Overall, I can't really fault this scooter except I'd like a little more power - but then again it is only a 125 and reaches a steady 65mph without any trouble or undue noise. If you're looking for a two person scooter that's not as big and cumbersome as most and is just as nippy as those hairdryer types the local 16 year old's ride then this is the one for you.

great bike for comfort,handling,fuel consumption,reliability.servicing is straight forward and easy.oil and filter change takes about 15 mins.only thing that can be a problem is corrosion and oil leaks from rocker gaskets.rusty exhaust pipes and silencer and have had the shaft drive filler bolt crack when attempting to loosen.the side crash protecters are very good though do tend to damage rest of fairing if dropped.panniers are small,would of prefered them to be removable.At motorway speeds can get over 55mpg but have been able to get over 60mpg(almost 200 miles before reserve turned on) Tyres last around 15000 miles and are quite cheap.handling is surprisingly good for a large bike,can scrape footpegs on roundabouts.can catch you out if you forget what you're on and push to hard.bike is quite slim so good for cutting through traffic.bike looks ok from front but panniers spoil it at rear end.good bike for touring or work but not fast.

A great bike, bought mine in 2000 with only 3000 miles on the clock, it's now completed 63,000+ miles, every mile i've notched up was fun, steadfast, the bike is powerful, comfortable over long distances and with good slow clutch control town riding is not a problem also, although to some the bike may seem heavy. I found it well balanced and the ride quality and handling are excellent even at 170mph plus. I've used it for commuting, teaching (CBT, DAS & Advanced instruction)for leisure and on track days, at which very few could outride me on it, this included Cadwell Park, Mallory & Rockingham circuits.
Most people who have owned one, remember it with praise for the excellent machine it is and out of the many bikes I have ridden professionally and otherwise I like it the most.

Excellent bike, I bought it in 2000 only 3000 miles on clock now done 63000, used daily for commuting, for business training others (I'm a DSA & RoSPA Advanced Instructor)and on Track days at Cadwell, Mallory & Rockingham. A great ride, comfortable (400 miles in a day), bulletproof Honda 998cc Engine and is up there with other Hyperbikes, Sports Tourers for speed, power and quality of ride.
Everyone should own one at some time, and get plenty of miles under their belt to appreciate what a fine machine this is. I've ridden many other bikes whilst owning the CBR, I always look forward to getting on board.
Oh and she appeared on the big screen and now on DVD along with it's owner as a Wessex Biker on the recent British biker movie Freebird.
