Overall Rating:
Review
Excellent bike, I bought it in 2000 only 3000 miles on clock now done 63000, used daily for commuting, for business training others (I'm a DSA & RoSPA Advanced Instructor)and on Track days at Cadwell, Mallory & Rockingham. A great ride, comfortable (400 miles in a day), bulletproof Honda 998cc Engine and is up there with other Hyperbikes, Sports Tourers for speed, power and quality of ride.
Everyone should own one at some time, and get plenty of miles under their belt to appreciate what a fine machine this is. I've ridden many other bikes whilst owning the CBR, I always look forward to getting on board.
Oh and she appeared on the big screen and now on DVD along with it's owner as a Wessex Biker on the recent British biker movie Freebird.

Honda CBR125
The Honda CBR 125 is the greatest second bike I have ever had.
It is reliable, very comfertable and just the right size for me (6 ft 4")
Amazingly I have got this bike secondhad with 14,000 miles on the clock, it has had a new scorpion exhaust and now it sounds FANTASTIC, would highly recomend this bike to a new rider to gears, or to anyone wanting just the fun of being on the open road.
After having this bike for . The bike loves cornering when there is one (even it 13 stone)!
To give my bike (the Repsol version) a meaner look I have changed the suspension to aftermarket, to lower it, but also to stiffen the bike so that I get that bit more speed! The only problem I have now is changing the bulbs, apart from that its a great bike! well done to Honda!

Bought in '95 for £2,000 with light crash damage and ran for 45,000 miles in 10 years with oil & filters and tyres, two valve clearence checks and a cam chain at 40,000 miles. Sold on for £600 owing me nothing.
Easy to home service.
K&N filter, Dyno-jet kit and Micron can (with standard header pipes) added 1,000 rpm to top end,(about 15 mph).
Pro-suspension constant rate springs in the forks and Hagon shock revived the handling at about 25,000 miles.

The Honda Blackbird is one of the most underated bikes on the market and an absolute Gem!!
Its one of the most forgiving bikes you can ride and with over 27000 miles on the current bike I can only say its fantatsic1
It averages around 40 MPG whilst having ballistic speed available when you need it.
It tours like a gentlemans tourer (Gran turismo) should with 500 miles a day a realistic anda comfortable option. and with the full set of hard luggage a two week holiday for two is well catered for.
Scandanavia , Italy , spain and Germany have all been well sorted with numerous trips to France an added bonus.
And all of it done with understated smoothness and comfort that you just dont find on a sports bike.
It Honda design means that not a mechanical or technical problem has occured along the way.
Its a little soft for the scratching but with a 6 mm spacer on the shock and some bridgestones fitted it still manages to suprise a few of the sports bike battalion especially when two up
It does tend to eat tyres with an average of 3000 for teh back and around 5000 for the front (so make sure you check teh wheels as bad tyre changers ruin them) but that apart I just cant find a better all rounder on the market.
Minor Mods you will need are a good hugger an double bubble screen as the origional is just 2 low. I think the standard cans look best but heated grips are a worthwhile extra. and for me a full set of hard luggage is a must.
I have seen a number fitted with raised bars and I must admit that its an atractive addition especially for town work.
The paintwork is still imacculate after 27000 miles of hard work as its used all year. The front forks have lost some of their lustre but overall its still in remarkable condition.
I am a convert to the Blackbird and after 5 years I am currently looking for a new one.
What would I say to Honda ?
Design a new Blackbird with a shaft drive and 1300 cc power plant , Improve the headlight and fit adjustable height bars but keep the comfort, handling, easy of riding and GT style performance. It will sell well and provides a much better solution to teh touring brigade than a Goldwing or an ST1100 !!!

I initially got my CBR to learn to ride and pass my test. I had never rode a bike before passing my CBT and got the CBR 125R for practice and building up confidence. It's a great first bike and would recommend it to any leaner riders. It's easy to reach the floor on which is a problem that I have got because I've got short legs. It always starts everytime the key is turned and has never let me down yet. The only downsides to it is that it acts like a sail in the wind because it's so light and struggles to reach 60mph when you are in head wind (I have struggles to get 45 - 50 mph out of it in head wind sometimes). I have rode it around town and on country roads with no problems. It's really economical and just loves being ridden. I can't really say many bad things about it because it's a good all rounder for a first bike. It looks the part and some people haven't realised it was a 125 until they noticed the smaller back tyre. After all the enjoyment from the CBR 125R I am ready for a bigger bike now but I will be sorry to see it go as I have had an enjoyable year on it. Well done Honda !!

I would like to write a small review on my first bike (CBR125), but I would like to start by asking a question: How good was your first bike?
The answer for me is - It was great! It was the fastest and best looking one of its kind and I am sure that everyone would agree that their first bike (the one that first made them think “This is what it is all about!”) was the same.
Now I have had a few bikes and a lot more miles under my belt, I would like to write a review on exactly what it was like.
I bought this bike from a local dealer (not going to say who), but overall it was quite good for a starter bike. A small single pop engine from Honda’s off road series, a small Fireblade style fairing/design and a small set of tyres is what you get for the price.
I am not going to go through the top speeds, 0-60’s, dry weights, etc… purely because it really is not necessary. This is a starting bike that works well. It was inspiring and made me want to explore what was down that road? Or what happens if I go this way?
Whilst owning this bike, I only had one problem with it, and that was the light switch was wired incorrectly causing the lights to not illuminate properly on the high beam filament. This was sorted out by the dealer under warranty. Other than that it was a very reliable bike.

Honda CBR125
This is the second bike I have owned, and it is amazing. for my 17th I wanted to move up to a 125, after looking around on the internet for days I stumbled across a second hand CBR in Repsol colours.
I arranged to go see it and fell in love with it immediately. I brounght it for £1700 which was a great bargain I thought.
my first time of riding the bike was great, up to my previous 2 stroke this 4 stroke bike was amazingly smooth, quiet and most importantly, fast.
Within a few days of riding it I was hitting corners at around 70Mph, and somehow getting my pegs to the ground, this bike somehow gives me the confidence to do some silly stuff. but i feel safe as it has such good braaking.
as the only one in my year to own a bike everyone was amazed at it, even i still can't believe its only a 125cc.
it has a top speed of 75Mph, however it is restricted, I think it will reach 100 when it is derestricted.
it is a great bike for anyone who is only on a CBT or just dosen't want to go too fast, it has a great riding position and is so much fun when hittin' corners. It has great acceleration and I highly recomend it for anyone who just wants to have a bit of fun.

Best bike I have ever had. It is a bit heavy in slow traffic (however I have an artificial shoulder). I have had it jetted and it shows 146hp. Never had any mechanical problems. Most comfortable bike I have been on. Can't imagine why Honda discontinued it.
Think I will have sell her though. Too difficult to handle with the shoulder.

Honda CBR600RR
The Honda CBR 600RR - my first real sports bike and I have to say what a bike it is!
The feel and feedback are out of this world, you know what the bike is doing all of the time.
Turn in is quite quick and feels like it is on rails.
Throttle response is quick but a bit slugish in the midrange but soon as you hit the magic 7000RPM the bike comes alive and turns in to a savage beast intent on ripping up the road, the surge is massive.
Brakes are very good more than capable of stopping you in a hurry.
ride comfort is o.k i'm 6ft and find it quite comfy but I would imagine shorter people may not find it that way.
Only complaint is there's quite alot of pressure put on your wrists
overall a very good bike
