Well, where do i start?

I am a motorcycle courier. And having clocked 50,000 since getting, i have had alot of experience with it. As well as many good points, there are a few bad as well but first with the good.

The engine is almost bullet proof (i say almost, the only time it broke down was when it overheated because of a poorly done head gasket [my fault, i did the cam chain and didn't notice a tiny stone that got in the way so there we go]. i let the engine cool down and manages to get home.)

Parts are cheap as chips.

Fuel economy is very good. Go into London and (providing you don't blast off at every traffic light) you'll see 58 MPG. Motorway runs will see 67MPG at a maximum of 70MPH and maybe 69MPG even 70MPG at 60MPH. Going none stop reserve tank will be met after 170 miles on average (about 12.5 litres)

Handling is great in dry weather (but not so good in wet, i learned that the hard way)

Power is more than capable. Who on earth needs a Ninja, or a fireblade, or an R1 ect... My bike is legally restricted to 33bhp. And if you think BOO, HISS, how wrong you are. Looked after, it will do 0-60MPH in 7.5 seconds AND 100MPH FLAT OUT, but don't maintain that speed, you will turn many heads, a few noses and into the nearest fuel station.

Now for the bad (to be more PC the need to improve to make better)

It is great for commuting but quite uncomfortable for longer journeys. Sit on it for 3 hours strait and you develop M.N.B.S. (mega numb bum sindrome)

My bike is an A1 model. Givi do very high quality Luggage racks but not for this exact bike. Only A2 up.

Nice front disc brake BUT WHY A REAR DRUM??????????? IT'S NASTY!!!!

The A1's do not come with a fuel guage. So you have no idea how much fuel you have until reserve at 12.5 litres.

This bike could have a bigger fuel tank as the maximum capacity is 16 litres. Not very big is it?

Other than that it is a nice bike for commuting. Look after it and it'll look after your bank account.

Just bought this to replace my Suzuki m1800r.
What a machine. It looks fantastic in Metallic Blue. Colour Coded Top box and Panniers.
Reasonable Fuel Consumption. Superb Handling. Excellent Dashboard Display.(tyre pressure, gear select etc).
But the best thing is without a doubt, the silky smooth gear change. As a shafty, this is leagues above any other shaft driven bike I have ridden. What a fantastic bit of kit... Go on you know you want to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kawasaki ZX 800cc Apr '02 (02)

Having owned a Bandit 250 for 2 years (and a CZ before that), I felt it was time for an upgrade. I'd ridden other larger bikes but there was something about the Ninja that appealed. Now I own it and I have to say it really is perfect for me. Almost. The handling is solid as a rock. The bike is so easy to control - if you want to ride slowly, it's easy. If you want to go fast... it's even easier. Bottom end and mid range power is surprisingly strong, but the bike is an absolute blast 7k upwards. The power, coupled with the induction roar makes me smile everytime. Weight is barely more than my old 250, and the handling seems even quicker in the turn in. And it looks the nuts too. Strengths: Performance, looks, parts availability, fuel economy Weaknesses: Some corrosion in annoying places, yellow Ninja decals on blue paintscheme.

my first recollection of a quacky was when i was around the age of 9/10yrs, my brother is an enthusiast of kawasaki's, and he would have a kmx 125 laid out on his kitchen floor and i'd see him cleaning and then reassembling it all together and hearing the revs that a beautiful well tuned machine needs to do, its what dreams are made of.

What can I say I have been riding for nearly 40 years at just over 5ft small the problem has always been getting your feet down. I tried the ER^ at the NEC bake show. The looks first hit me the exhaust hidden away under the belly pan and the single rear unit. Oh so neat. I just had to have one. Took a test ride on the naked bike.Returned to the shop and placed my order.I commute daily with fitted top box to carry my work suit. Simly slips through the traffic into Bham. Neat and nimble. Took it over to IOM 07 what a blast of with the top box and fly over the mountain. Not quite in the JM times but grin factor was a Magic 130. Return trip with luggage not a problem. Have done 13k miles in 2 years just fitted new Battleaxe 021 after a few days of riding on egg shells the magic is back and she again slides into corners..
If you are on the short side give one a try I know you will love it. RIDE ON

Kawasaki ZRX 1100cc 97/98 (R)

I'm 39 now and as the years roll by they bring with them
the dreaded aging process: varicose veins and pileoroids,
but time lapse is not all bad because over time the bikes they make get more and more refined and this is evident in the rexxer. This bike is the donkey's knob.

I dont just like my ZRX1100, I LOVE my metallic purple UK 98 ZRX1100C2. Its 10 years old and has 40k miles on it yet it still has the smooth new bike sound: its the first bike I've owned that doesnt tick or whirr when its not supposed to and I've had 25 bikes. I only rode my previous bikes once or twice a week, but I NEED a shottie on this bike EVERY DAY come rain or shine. I went on holiday for a week and had withdawal symptoms. It looks ultra mean. The naked engine is the main attraction here, SEXY! It handles as good as it looks: for a bike with an engine that a car would be proud of it is surprisingly light and nimble. Blip that throttle and it takes off like Popeye after a dose of spinach. The upright trail bike-esque riding position is very comfortable on short or long hauls: much less weight on the arms compared with the usual road bike forward squat. It has Incredible Hulkloads of power with no flat spots, I got mine for £1800/$3600 making it within reach of village idiots and simple peasant folk like me. Of course, you get them even cheaper outside the biking season, watch out for dem December bargains when tearful owner trades bikey to pay $anta.

The only problem I had was the clutch slave cylinder which seized so I doused it with a glob of brake fluid to soften the buildup of dry crudge in the recess to fix.

If you drop it, it only has a tiny little decal which will be out of harms way unlike bikes with full fairings I've had which cost £billions to fix if you shatter them in a spill, this is why I recommend this bike over the later ZRX1200 which has a much bigger d£cal. Crash bars/bobbins are a must on that wide engine as those ca$ing$ are a bit vuln£rabl£.

I went on a Rexxer rideout to a kawa meet at the Ace Cafe, there I saw that the rex looks great in all kawa colours and theres a lot of mods you can buy, one guy had spent £5300/$10600 on his bike and that didnt include the cost of the bike! It had ZZR cams to give it even more gumption! Bye, gotta go Rexxin.

Kawasaki KLE 500cc 93/94 (L)
Overall Rating:

I bought the KLE from a dealer in London, bit on impulse as some dork in local rag decided to sell the bike he had promised to me, this was on Saturday and I needed transport for Monday morning! I like the bike but it has some serious faults - that chuffing saddle for a kick-off - my bike vibrates like a pig under 3,000 rpm and I now am contemplating buying shares in Locktite. Also the roor/stator unit packed up (it ate the magnets) and this seems a common problem. The front brake - what can I say apart from it's sh*te, I have replaced it with a caliper from a KLR 650 (I think?, bled the hell out of it, replaced pads, but it is not a good brake), needs a Brembo like my sons KTM 400 EXC, that pulls the tyre off the rim if you want it to. I manage 145 miles before reserve (around 30 miles) and I think the tank is around 16 litres. If I really nail it, this drops to 110 miles before reserve. Just worn the rear Michelin Pilot out and I don't know what to replace it with some people say the Bridgestone is good- anysuggestions????

Good all round fun bike; only downsides are that the seat can be a bit uncomfortable when 2 up and mirrors vibrate when I go too fast. Other than that well worth the money.
