Yamaha Cygnus 125cc Sept '05 (55)
Overall Rating:
Review
Right from the word go, this scooter amazed me great handling, fast acceleration. Good looks
cornering a bit fast isnt a problem, just a quick tap on the yamaha cygnus's break lever and you have no worries.

The Scooter in genrall gets a A*
It really shows its money's worth when it comes to long hauls and long traffic waits (thats if filtering isnt available ;))
Its more than comfortable and a speedy little number.
Ive had no problem pulling away from the street hairdryers (50cc's :P)

And have found my self on many occasions taking the long way round just to have a bit more fun

the scooter is very very reliable and i personally having done 19.000 miles on it havent had any problems with it.

great for commuting or learner (:

overall
Excllent scooter highly reccomended

Honda CBR 400cc 97/98 (R)

hello

i had a dream:

i have had several cars since passing my test 4 years ago and wanted to know that feeling of ultimate freedom that only a motorbike can give you.

so i sat at my desk at work and made a plan - that plan was to get a honda cbr 4oo and to pass my class a test all in the space of about 6 months.

with a wonderfully supportive family behind me, i managed to make this a reality and am now the proud owner of said bike.

it is a vision in silver and turquoise livery and every possible chance i get to go out and just drive i do. even sitting at my desk at work is now different because i know that not only have i got something to show for it , but that if i put my mind to something, i can make it happen.

i always knew that i would love 2 wheels over 4 but the dream was only half as wonderful as the reality.

the road ahead is thankfully long and i thank god for the wonderful chances and opportunities that i have and for the people who make them come to life.

Sinnis Stealth 125cc Sept '08 (58)
Overall Rating:

Hi i have just bought a "superbyke" its the same as the sinnis stealth, can someone answer me a few questions, my engine sounds quite rattly? aim new to bikes, just passed my cbt. so not sure if its just me or not? does the engine sound quite noisy while riding? also does anyone know if these are the same bike as the sinnis? looks the same, same spec? and what does engine built under license mean? apparently these have a Suzuki engine? other than these questions all seems to be OK.

i love my beast, but on long journeys its not the most comfertable machine., i,ve had it for 6 yrs now and i cant stop getting a thrill from it.Cornering at 150kms is uncomfertable, strait line and high tailing it there is no other,in case of an emergency i would want max to get me there faster then light. and it does.

I just bought one of these as a way to get to work.
i put £6 on the day i bought it,(full tank is £6) that was nearly two weeks ago and im still on a quarter tank.
i love this moped, it drives well and if you deristrict it it can do 57 miles per hour, and still has great mpg.
i would recommend this moped to any first time buyer.

Sym Voyager 305cc Apr '09 (09)
Overall Rating:
Review
I dont no what else to list this bike as, it was classed as a 300cc but on paper it was only a 264cc with fuel injection it looked nice, had many new features like a 12volt socket ,a glove box a very large under seat storage area on the 17/10/2009. I collected mine from my dealership the very first one out of the box at that dealer, i had a color coded top box fitted. total price I paid was £3711.00 on the road i had used it to commute to town which was only 2 miles (oh yeh speedo is in kmh and can not be changed )when bad weather came i decided to lock it in my garage until fine weather came again 2 weeks later i went to start it up only to find a several items were now rusty !! bolts, brake calipers, suspension springs, exhaust ,my beautiful brand new scooter the scooter i had chosen to go touring on was reduced to a pile of rust in just 2-3 weeks .
how cheap is the metal they are useing on this quality bike that everybody likes !!
when dealer told me this was not a warrenty issue i decided to get rid of this awfull cheaply made piece of rubbish(i now know what happens to bean can that come from our blue lid bins) was not impressed especially when dealer told me that 189 miles later it had lost £1300 in value thanks for reading

Honda VFR 800cc Apr '03 (03)
Overall Rating:
Review
Bought my VFR 800 2003 with 8000 miles on clock and full service history from a dealer in west sussex. It was an absolute steel at £1500, However it did have a minor mark on the front panel and a small crack so after repairing this it came to about £1800. Loved this bike and was a very good ride. Sold this for £3500!

Honda Deauville 700cc Apr '07 (07)
Overall Rating:
Review
The Deauville ticks all the boxes that I wanted: comfortable, fairing to keep the wind off, storage space etc. BUT, the maintenance fees are so expensive. Tippets of Surbiton would like the bike in every 4,000 miles with a typical fee of £350. Traveling c.12,000 a year, would result in fees of c. £1,500 when some tyres are thrown in too.

3-years on, I think its time to drop back down to a scooter which was fun, not quite so fast though!

Gilera DNA 50cc Apr '01 (Y)
Overall Rating:
Review
"The scooter that thinks it's a motorcycle" was one of the advertising lines Gilera used. Why would you have one? Well, it's the looks. The Gilera DNA range was deliberately styled to look like a sports bike with a steel wrap-around frame designed to look like a sports bike (grey painted to look like aluminium in the half-light) swoopy bodywork, twin headlights, what looks like a petrol tank between the rider's knees and motorbike rear. But the inner parts are conventional scooter - in 50cc form that means a water-cooled 2-stroke motor, automatic clutch and gearing for twist 'n' go riding, small wheels and brakes operated at the handlebar.

So what do you get? Restricted they were said to do just over 30mph. You are hardly likely though a few years after Gilera stopped making DNAs to find a restricted one today. That takes you to the next question: how was the restriction done? The simplest way keeps the original carburettor, airbox and exhaust and takes a DNA to 50mph. More can be wrung out of the little engine, but you need to test ride to see how well it was done. It can be a mess leading to no performance and lots of noise.

So for performance: you should get 50mph on the flat without a head wind and the riding position gets you crouched down to help. Acceleration should be up there with most 50cc 2-strokes, but not as nippy as lighter ones. Handling is better than some scooters owing to the good forks and riding position, but the scooter design with an engine whose weight is to the rear and the way the motor and wheel pivots on a rubber bush makes it less good than a conventional motorbike. (Check the swinging arm action for wear if the MoT is not new when you buy.)

Features: brakes are good (discs both ends), forks are beefy (not really needed on the 50, but the same were used on the DNA 180); headlights are good but the twin light look is a bit of a con as Gilera uses one side for dip and the other for full beam; the instruments are a digital display - nothing unusual now, but exciting 10 years ago. The petrol tank is a dummy one. Undo the lock and you can put some helmets inside, but not larger ones.

All in all the DNA is about style. It will probably outpace dad's 70s sports moped, whilst having electric starting, 12 volt lights and a proper oiling system. But at top speed a Honda C90 will outrun it and use half the fuel. But you won't be looking for a C90 as an alternative ride, will you - you'll be wanting real bike looks and something modern looking. As DNA 50s can be found taxed and tested in good order for £500, they are a bargain way to some cheap fun. If you buy a non-runner, parts are easy to get and everything fits straightforwardly. Simply buy with care - remembering they are plentiful.
