Vespa ET4 150cc Apr '01 (Y)

I have just bought a Piaggio Vespa ET4 150cc. The 150cc was made for the American market and wasn't readily available over here (so they are quite rare) - we had to settle with 125's. I must say this little beauty goes like a rocket, who'd have thought that extra 25cc would make all the difference?

It was originally shipped over from New York when the previous owner moved to the UK. I've not had it long but have already fallen in love with the it. The build quality and stability of the ride is excellent, I expected the suspension to suffer because of the 10 inch wheels but have gone over many bumps and dips and it handles them very well with not too much jolting.

The only minus I'd say is that if you're planning on taking a pillion it may be a tight squeeze, but other than that - the Vespa ET4 150 is brilliant!!!

My advice is if you're looking for a scooter to get you from A to B with no long motorway journeys, keep a look out for the 150 and then cherish it.

You start by sitting on this biddy 125 and the first thing you'd notice is how wide and comfortable the seat is. The display is clear and includes a smart little digital clock among the other standard stuff.
You feel in retro heaven when riding this. It's smooth, responsive and smart.
Why only an 8 score then? Well, my exhaust was no more than six months old when it started rusting - even though it had been garaged in between journeys. One of the mirrors seems to be prone to a loosening bolt. This results in the whole arm flapping about whilst you're on the move which is very offputting!!
In truth though, these are very minor issues as all of it is covered by the warranty anyway. It's still a very cool little runner!

Great bike - really fun to ride and not too bad on power, good fuel return but plant the throttle too often and it wont be so great (obviously). Why can't they do the PX body as a twist'n'go, suppose it wouldn't be a PX then! After driving a manual car for years, I didn't want a scoot with gears to have to worry about too.< >I've had problems with the carb though, the scoot's been back to the shop twice, the 2nd time for a complete replacement and now the replacement seems to have developed a flat spot - not too handy when pulling away. This suggests that ET4s may have faulty carbs on them? Has anyone had similar problems?< >Well worth adding on the Chrome as part of the deal - the bike looks so bare without it but make sure you treat it well as it will start rusting almost immediately.< >All-in-all fab, but the carb has been a real nightmare.
