I've had my GT 650R for 4 months now, & have done 6000 km on her. She goes well, I have had her up to 210 km indicated, and cruise to my office 120 km away from home comfortably at 160 km/h (100 mph) without trying. Cornering, I run out of courage long before she runs out of grip - the Bridgestones stick like glue and even when you are on the edge of the tread, she's as sure-footedly as the proverbial mounatin goat. Whilst I haven't got her onto a racetrack yet, playing on mountain passes, she's all over the big-bang bikes like a nasty rash. I love her spread of power [60kW], pulling from 3500, and really taking off at 7500, hurling herself like a madthing at the 11000 rpm redline. She has a gorgeous growl & snarl from the(aftermarket) exhaust and this with her predatory looks earned her the nickname 'Black Dragon'. I have heard reviewers complain of them 'shaking their heads' but never experienced this. Feel on the front is always positive, and she holds her cornering line well. Even changing line mid-corner she takes without grumble. She is a delight to ride. So why only 6 stars?

After 5000 km the back disc is so ridged, it has to be replaced.
The tank gauge misreads. I ended up running out of fuel when my gauge said 1/4 tank left, 3 miles from the nearest garage. Gosh, how I laughed. She arrived on day 1 with the tacky stick-on screen motif peeling off, and a sweating front fork seal. She's in the garage today, and we are changing the front fork oil to improve rebound & setting preload. We are also changing the discs from the factory issued ones bought in down-town Seoul, which are just crap, to Ferodo. The LCD speedo is really hard to read in direct light (gimme an analogue anyday) and the front brakes should be adjustable. Locks are loose, and things rattle. The headlight does not give a good spread of light - its patchy and uneven. I will trade her in before my guarantee expires, and will not be buying a new one unless things change noticeably this year regarding build quality, which is poor and whilst they are new to this building bikes lark, Hyosung seriously need to address this issue if they ever want to escape being seen as a poor man's Suzuki.

That aside, she goes like the wind and is a real, red blooded animal that is a delight to ride. I love every trip and look forward to it.

I am in the market for a commuter bike in Durban. It will have to do about 80km's per day. I realy like the looks of the GT250, but am also looking at the GT650 R or S. I am a big boy (122kg.), and I am a bit worried that the 250 won't preform as well as it should when ridden by me. I am also a bit worried about getting aftermarket parts for the bike. What is the connection between Kawasaki and Hyosung? Will Kawa parts fit on Hyosung? What is the top speed of the 2 bikes respectively?

BOUGHT AS A COMMUTER/FUN-ON-FINE- DAYS 'BIKE. A VERY CAPABLE LITTLE BIKE BUT THE O/E TYRES ARE LETHAL AT ANYTHING OVER 60mph. CHANGED (UNDER WARRANTY) TO BRIDGESTONE BATTLAX - TRANSFORMS THE RIDE AND HANDLING. ONE MAG CRITICISED IT FOR DODGY BRAKES - THEY SEEM MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR A LIGHTWEIGHT - AND POOR GEARBOX. THEY MUST HAVE HAD A WELL/BADLY-RIDDEN PRESS HACK OR NOT KNOWN HOW TO RIDE. THE GEARCHANGE IS BETTER THAN SOME BIKES WHICH I HAVE OWNED. FINISH IS GENERALLY GOOD - EQUAL IF NOT BETTER THAN THE HONDA CBR250 WHICH IS MORE EXPENSIVE AND ONLY A SINGLE. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A CENTRESTAND (WHICH IT LACKS)WOULD WELCOME QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR BUYING ONE OF THESE - THEY'RE WORTH A SECOND LOOK. I think they are sold under the name ALPHASPORTS in some countries - notably the USA & Canada

I bought my Karion in September and am still riding now (28 December). Great all round bike, excellent handling for poor weather as is normal here in Scotland. Great acceleration but only complaint would be rather poor top speed, though I believe this could be redressed by sprocket change, does anyone know??!!??

This is a brilliant bike for the money!! Just 700 quid OTR!!! Good power through the range from the trusty 'Honda based' engine. Modern looks and brilliant handling. A must if you get one though - change the sprockets to 16/47 & you'll get about 70mph!

For a 125 I think this is about as stylish as you can get, it looks great, sounds larger than 125 and people often comment that it looks like a bigger bike. Feels heavy but gets a novice used to the size and weight of a proper bike. Good fun to ride but 80mph is your absolute tops (downhill with the wind behind you). Smooth clutch, gears a bit clunky, but overall built quite well built for the price. I have done over 7000miles on mine in a year and have had to replace the chain and sprokets and all the pads twice (should have lasted longer in my opinion).
Overall if you are looking for a 125 look no further. Comfortable over long distances, fine around town, upright riding position and looks great.
It's a winner

I've had mine over 6 months now and really enjoy it. Rides and handles well and the restricted version is great for 1st time bikers that don't want a 125 or 250. Even took mine to the TT's this year and passed a lot of guys on bigger name bikes. My local dealer has every part in stock so spares are not an issue.

Bike looks & sounds like much larger machine. Pulls up hills well when rev's are kept up. Will cruise at a vibration free 55-60 mph as 6 gears help to keep the revs down. 75mph is about it's limit. Build quality is very good, but chrome a bit thin in parts. The dealer network in the SW of England is a bit patchy, but fortunately run of the mill parts are easy to get & dealers I have spoken to have all been helpful. I can thoroughly recommend one of these bikes. Brand snobbery is for sheep. Be different & you will have a fine looking, quality machine at very reasonable price.
