My AR50 is brilliant it does 45-50mph standard, but I have a problem my cluch cable keeps snapping every month and a half 2 months, I should be getting a 93cc big bore racing exhaust, racing cdi 80 carb and I've already got a racing air filter. e-mail me for quiries or facts on ur AR's or ne problems. I have built 1 before so I know quite a lot about them.

I got a new green Kawasaki AR50 in '86. It would do 33-35mph, without tuning it. You can put a larger front sprocket from 13 to 14 tooth (and a longer chain) and you will get 40mph and it will acc. just as good. It was faster than most, but it would not keep up with derestricted ones (unless you were on a hill) If you use it on the road you want it to be reliable, my tuning tips would be< >< >1 - change back or front sprockets (chain)< >< >2 - change exhaust (road legal Micron) keep carb + airfilter standard.< >< >3 - the next step would be 80 spec. 15 front sprocket, 41 back sprocket. 80 (18mm) carb. 80 inlet. boyesen reeds. 80 cylinder, cylinder head, piston, or a big bore kit (you can get 93cc or more I think 110cc, but to stay reliable stick with 80cc). Change the oil pump 80cc (or it will seize). In the UK the 50 has a 5 speed box, the 80 has a 6 speed box - add the 2 missing cogs, change the gearchange drum for an 80 one, change clutch + clutch springs, ***I think the crankshaft and conrod are the same but don't hold me to that*** , to get the 80 timming/compression you can change the flywheel generator and sparkplug but I think the Micron exhaust will compensate.< >< >The cheapest way would be to get a second hand engine, carb and inlet. Then you will have 70mph on a bike than weighs 78kgs and 10bhp and a nice powerband at 6,000rpm (for an 80).< >< >OR GET A 125!!! < >< >Change oil, airfilter, sparkplug every 2500 miles at least

I have just bought an F reg, AR50 so far I know that it has an AR125 CDI and the back end of an old Micron pipe. I need 2 know how to make it go faster and I am prepeared to go right in to the engine (not just the barrel) which parts will need to be replaced? How far should I bore it out? My mate has a AR50 with a KX80 air cooled engine and it it absolutely RAPID it leaves mine standing and wheelies high without any effort and sits at 75-80mph I need my bike to keep up with his. Help!!

I have to say, the Kawasaki AR is my favorite bike. You can customize it in alot of different ways, and because it is a overall great bike. It is very lightwieght, has a low center of gravity (Allowing you to drop it on corners), and is small enough to make it through the tightest of spaces. I have spent LOADS of money on my bike, and I will have to agree with Daylon Johnson (Someone that I know), that it is insane to think that a AR will do 90 MPH. I will admit that AR's are fast, but they aren't all that they are made out to be. They are a HIGH maintenance bike once you have replaced most of the original parts with performance parts, and if u live in Bermuda, it is now IMPOSSIBLE to source parts locally as the Kawasaki dealership has been bought out by a local scooter rental company. I would love to take my bike down the race track, but because of how ignorant some people are, I refuse to take my bike down there anymore. Power has gone to some peoples head, and they seem to think that they know everything down there, so I guess that I'll stick to McGalls, palm, or northshore for my racing...

To all you uk AR50 users -I will mention that its a moped and as such it is illegal for it to do more than 30mph... NOW that thats out the way I would like to say mine does 40mph (45 down a big hill in Neutral). I fitted a brand new 2002 AR50 exhorst and adjusted the pilot and throttle screws. Also I put AR80 sprockets on. Lastly for aesthetics I took off the screen and replaced the original indicators and mirrors with smaller ones. That got me the extra 10mph but I want more! Any suggestions? please e-mail me.

I have an AR which I have rebuilt myself and it was a great pleasure to. It tops out at 50mph and the only restriction taken off it is just the exhaust pipe which has come from an AR 80. It's quick, efficient and a good little beast handles brilliantly round corners and accelerates out of them brilliantly
