"Best budget allround bike on market by far" I can recommend this bike to anyone who is looking for something that will do a bit of everything on a smallish budget, I hate to use the cliche "allrounder" but there's really no other way of describing this bike. The GPZ is capable of 50-60 MPG, its quick for a 500 and its also cheap to insure and maintain. The engine is virtually bullet proof to at least 40-50000 miles providing the oil is changed every 3000 miles or 6 months. Also consumables for this bike are much cheaper than most of the 600's and it wont eat tyres and chains faster than you can put them on either. If you haggle a little You will pick a really nice one of one of these up for as little as

Great. 130 mph top speed. 60 HP, 0-60 in 3.7 secs. Abuse it as much as you like and it'll keep on running. Nice fairing. cheep ish insurance (not for me im 17 and only have 1.9 years no claims (they ripped me off cos 2 poilies overlapped.) I have an XS500 for winter and that lacks the top end and the handling and the brakes and the light weight of the gpz (need I go on ?). I look after the gpz but I tend to ride every where at 125mph. But its a good bike and can take all the stick you can throw at it. I keep getting pulled by the cops on the gpz as its so stable you dont realise how fast your going. So far I have been let off by the cops as although I am young I am down to earth and relativley sensible (honest officer) The 33bhp restriction doesnt cause a problem COS THERE ISNT ONE !.

Just bought a new GPZ500S E9 model with the twin discs and twin horns and I'm loving it. Put 3000 miles on it so far. The brakes are fantastic, it handles well and gets 60mpg. BT45 tyres are best and the rear will take a 140. Had 130mph out of it flat out. Only insurance group8.....GET ONE NOW

Excellent bike. Acceleration from 80-100 took me by surprise as 70-80 is a bit slow. Does 60+ mpg if you keep below 80 and I've managed 70+ when riding with a mate running in a new bike. Cheap to run with BT45's at

I bought the bike as cheap commuter, and have not been disapointed. The bike was bought second hand, with just 350 miles on the clock. I've had 2500 miles of fun, trouble free riding. Insurance is cheap, consumables will be relatively cheap, and of course the tax will now be just

I have bought this 500 twin in excellent order and have been surprised at its ability for an older bike to hold its own against more modern bikes that I have owned.

Hi all. Anyone had any problems with GPz500 suffering from an intake of water into the fuel system ? I have to drain the carb float bowls every 4 months (after the classic cannot accelerate but can idle ok), this requires choke on full and lots of clutch slipping to get me home from work where I can then drain the water out. My local kwak dealer claimed it's dodgy fuel that's the problem (funny how my car doesn't suffer tho)< >cheers all

Its a great little bike with a spunky raw edged power delivery, just like bigger Kawasakis. The brakes are pretty good too even though mine had to be replaced under warranty as they began to rust on the back after only 2 weeks. Otherwise the finish is good and its a better overall bike than the Honda CB 500. It likes to be revved to get the best from it as it tends to chug at below 3000 rpm. Its comfortable to ride and has a solid properly completed feel to it that other competitors lack. Mine is ebony black with black components and looks really cool. There is no bare alloy to fur up as its all painted black unlike the Honda CB 500. Its really sporty and delivers excellent mpg and even on the standard Bridgestone Excedra tyres it grips the roads really well . Its really difficult to believe that this bike was designed in 1986 and was updated in 1993 becuase theres nothing at all dated about it with the recent return to sharp angular styling by many italian makers its looks have come back into fashion making it look like a 2000 design !! All in all a fantastic little bike with low insurance group of 9 or 10
