Ok, so lets start with the first impression.

Streetfighers need to look 'brutish' if they are going to hack it and they don't come much more aggressively styled than the Z750. The wide, angular tank holds about 18 litres and the sharp headlight cowl compliments the overall shape of the bike whilst giving reasonable wind protection even on the wrong side of the speed limit! The tail section is equally stylish and finishes off the bike beautifully.

This is a middleweight, naked bike that will cut down your insurance premium but still deliver an adrenalin rush whenever you wind open the twistgrip.

The 'Zed' is actually a joy to ride thanks to a combination of responsive power and lightweight handling. Class-leading engine performance comes from a 748cc liquid-cooled in-line four with electronic fuel injection.

The power delivery provides excellent torque over a broad rev range so that you can make the best of the six gears and it gives instant cold starting, smooth throttle response, good fuel economy and low exhaust emissions. A large, Z1000 radiator eliminates the need for an oil cooler.

Simple twin-pot calipers squeeze the speed out of the twin 300mm front discs. A single pot caliper and 220mm disc steadies the back end.

Downsides for me are minimal, the seat is angled downward so you do find after 30 minutes or so that your genitals are resting on the tank and there is a fair buzz of vibration through the footpegs at about 80 - 85 mph. Both of these can be fairly easily solved.

Overall I think it's an excellent bike, great styling, loads of torque, superb power delivery, ample stopping power and handles like a dream.

One word of warning tho . . .it may make a hooligan out of you!!

Fantastic looking bike, very muscular and beautiful Very similar to Z1000 in fact could be its baby bro!
100 bhp as standard but for more thrills add a power commander- Handles well, corners are where it comes into it's own, however if you ride hard you will need to sort the suspension as the front a
bit too soft and rear too hard and even tweaking the 4 step adjustment aint gonna make much difference.
Brakes ok as standard, but ugrade if you have the dosh, also a flyscreen is probably a good idea as windblast over 70mph can be tough on your neck, so this will make for more comfortable riding over distances.
Standard cans not too bad looking - but save your pennies and get Akrapovics on - WOW now thats how a bike should sound!
Clocks and display rather tasty but the digital rev counter hard to see in direct sunlight- (Good excuse when old plod pull you)
If you want a good all rounder this is the bike for you, can do it all, from being a reliable commuter to a fun filled machine when let loose on the twistys.

What ever negative comments you may hear from other sources, verbal, written, or drunken pub talk forget it ! right now, this is the Gospel truth why because as a real biker that started off on bike's back in the 70's, Like Derek Acorah on Most Haunted i have a sixth sense. The Z750 that evolved from the ZX900 ENGINE slightly downsized from the blueprint, yet shares many qualities of it's Big Brother the Z1000,it is a peach of a REAL BIKE, it handles extremely well, albeit twitchy at times, real men know their limit, and a bikes limitation. Looked after serviced, and treated like it is a precision machine, it will run economically, produce reasonable touring speeds given it,s small handle bar fairing it copes at speeds up to 80Mph for the average height rider of 6Ft.The speed above 6000Rpm (slight vibration) is more than you would Legally require, with plenty in hand for overtaking at 100Mph + continental speeds, as an average the Fuel consumption will be any where between 42 and as much as 54 Mpg, this depends on riding technique, and type of Roads driven.Never underestimate the potential of this machine, sure ride around and let the world see you in your Fine leathers and Highly polished helmet, or take it around the country lanes and pretend your Barry Sheen (God bless him)this will produce an ear to ear grin on your face, believe you me for the money forget the rumours and trust me this bike will blow you away, and guess what the new model is gonna be a Cosmic success, every thing you would need in a bike Enjoy life but ride safe and sure

This is a good looking, fine handling bike but let down by notchy gearbox and juddering clutch, especially when cold. Kawasaki tell me this is normal! I,ve had many bikes, of different ages and makes, none with this problem. But Kawasaki know best! Another problem is it gets false neutrals, anywhere and any time. And this is a new bike! Is,nt it about time these manufacturers could match Suzuki in making a GOOD gearbox?

Cheap to buy, cheap to run, fun to ride, loads of cheap spares about, possible to mix and match from other Zeds. Starter motor clutch goes at 40K, caused by weak springs (that cost about 50p each) can be fixed with engine in frame, not expensive but requires removal of clutch and dropping sump. Leaking head gasket very common as washers harden with age, relatively cheap to fix, often ignored for tens of thousands of miles (free rustproofing for engine!) Camchains start rattling at 50k, soft link replacement about 100ukp. Swingarm rust/collapse endemic thanks to gaps which allow water to collect (fill with silicon sealant). Tanks rusts from inside on any highish mileage bikes, running tank out of petrol resulting in carbs being filled with crud. Possible to buy sealant for inside tank to cure. Motads work well. Wiring loom normally in serious state of decline on any still around. Carbs stay in balance for 10000 miles+, rattling clutch basket quite normal at low revs, particularly if bike is slightly out of tune. Slight flatspot around 3000 revs quite normal but should be supersmooth from then on.Any engine noises or hesitation in revving out fully and smoothly in any gear should sound warning bells. GPz750r1 the twinshock model with bikini fairing and 86bhp is great fun, good value too as it gets a panning in most write ups for dodgy handling. As long as all bearings are 100%, and tyres are OK handling is fine, however as soon as a fraction of wear appears you won't need to be told about it. Ultimately bodgeable bikes, why buy a modern retro when you can have the real thing for a fraction of the price?
