Suzuki B-King 1300cc Apr '09 (09)

I owned an 02 Busa bought for me by the wife. I really loved that bike but found it uncomfortable to tour on (I have a bad knee injury)but in 08 I bought another Busa I just love their power but could not get comfortable so sold it.
I now own a B-King and it's fantastic especially at £7k brand new. I love the looks of the bike and would like a slightly noiser can but do not want to change it's looks so I purchased an exhaust on Ebay and had the internals reworked, it now has a nice growl without being offensive and still looks original. If your looking for something special easy to ride and comfy you've got to try one.

Having been absent from bikes for 30 yrs i needed to ride again,having looked at all available 125`s the bike that stood out amongst the crowd was the Van Van and it`s retro look(my first bike being a Suzuki Gt 250).A comfy ride and very forgiving on minor errors,a must for learners,an absolute dream for country rides out and economical around the city,lacks power and speed in high gears ,mine has a problem slipping into first, probaly just a clitch needing some throttle adjustment.A real fun bike to ride and to learn on and feels good.

Suzuki VS Intruder 800cc Apr '03 (03)

Are most bike to big for you? This is the bike for you, 5'6" and above your in for an uncomfortable time. A very good all rounder, the low centre of gravity alows you to throw this quite heavy twin around as if its a 250. Problem areas include soft front brake if not bled correctly and odo cable frequent replacement. Replacement parts can be quite expensive when purchased in the uk. Long runs are good as long as you check the route for fuel stops 120 miles is your limit but then the bum needs a rest anyway. Lots of low end torque so ask for power and its on tap. Great little all rounder.

I've owned my SV for just over 2 years now and not had any real problems to worry about. The only things I have encountered is cutting out when wet (think this is solved by fitting a front fender extender, although this solution mainly works for the earlier models I hear) and gear selection issues occasionally, although think this could be to do with the inner parts of the clutch assembly.
Apart from that, a great bike, great looks, handling, brakes and superb value for money. In fact mine is almost worth what I paid 2 years ago and that was from a dealer!!
Get yer dosh and go out and buy one !!!

NEW MOTORBIKE REVIEW - SUZUKI GSX-R1000

SIMPLY THE BEST

* What’s It all About?
One statistic sums up the dominance of the Suzuki GSXR1000. It’s the best selling bike over 125cc sold in the UK outselling sensible middleweights, workaday commuter bikes and trendy big scooters, despite the fact that it’s one of the fastest point-to-point motorcycles around.

Superbike superiority tends to wax and wane. In the early nineties, the Honda Fireblade was dominant, followed by a few years when the Yamaha YZF-R1 held sway. For a while, it looked as if Kawasaki might depose Yamaha but it was Suzuki that played a blinder with their ‘Gixxer,’ a bike that moved the game forward by several degrees.

Suzuki revealed a significantly updated GSX-R1000 for 2007 at the Paris Motorcycle Show in September last year. This new flagship of the Suzuki GSX Supersport range has gained 14 pounds over the 2006 model which is probably due to its new exhaust system and new emissions regulations. To counter this substantial rise in weight, Suzuki’s engineers have worked hard to improve the machine’s aerodynamics. Although this motorcycle is not a completely new model, the engine and chassis have been significantly updated and there are now three different engine mapping configurations - standard, sport, and 'wet', all of which are selectable via a three-position switch on the handlebar. The ‘Wet’ configuration reduces the amount of delivered power significantly therefore making the bike more manageable on damp road surfaces or when first setting out on cold tyres.

* What Does It Cost?
Not only is the Suzuki the best of the big bikes, but at the moment it’s also one of the cheapest at £8,949 price with the Yamaha being £8,999, the same price amount that you’ll have to fork out for a Honda Fireblade, only the Kawasaki ZX-10R being fractionally cheaper at £8,800. The GSX-R is offered in Gloss and Matt Black or in Suzuki’s traditional racing colours of Blue and White. Reshaped dual headlights, revised bodywork and wheels are the key features that visually differentiate this bike from its predecessor. Expect to pay a hefty NU17 rating for cover.

* How Does It Handle?
Suzuki’s new ‘Gixxer’ offers Razor sharp handling. The machine now has a lower centre of gravity and an improved riding position while twin exhaust pipes assist in providing great balance. The bike feels small and neutral, eager to tip into a corner, while the slipper clutch will allow you to leave your braking good and late. Just about the only criticism it’s possible to level is that it’s so good it makes everything feel easy. It’s only when you look at how hard riders on rival bikes are working to try to keep pace that the Suzuki’s talents become manifest.
The great thing about the Suzuki GSX-R’s 185bhp engine is that although you expect it to be a peaky screamer, it in fact has a decent slug of torque available across a broad rev range. While that may not be the number one selling point for a supersports bike, it makes the Suzuki a whole lot more versatile than expected. Through the gears the thing is absolutely ballistic, getting to 60mph in under 3.34 seconds with a talented rider on board and will keep up the assault until it peaks at 183.58mph.

* Verdict
Here’s the definitive supersports bike. It’s been that way for some years now and the reign looks set to continue. You probably won’t be disappointed if you buy Honda, Kawasaki or Yamaha – they’re all great rival bikes but you’ll always be left with the nagging doubt that you’d bought the wrong tool for the job. The Suzuki rider has no such worries.
