Fantastic bike to ride after owning a gsxr600 98. Very comfortable to ride and great handling. once it reaches 9 - 10000 revs the bike flies and can keep up with most of the bikes of today. Excellent for touring or riding long distances.

I'd been riding bikes of and on for many years (too many really) before I got my arse in gear and passed my test! It all came about because a friend had a bike for sale, a Suzuki RF600R. So I bought it and then passed my test, got a lift to collect it from another mate, R1 owner. My Suzuki looked the BOLLOX and I felt a million dollars when I rode it home through the wind and the rain, hail and thunder storm! But as soon as I got on it I felt a part of it straight away, it gave me confidence I never had before. It might not have been as quick or fast as my mates bikes (R1, Blade, Blackbird) but it was mine and I loved it. The only downer I felt it had was the small fuel tank. My best to reserve was 98 miles and worst 72 miles, a small problem for such a great bike!
Sadly we have now parted and I have got a Triumph Sprint, but thats a different story.

I had alawys been a fan of sport V-twins, but my TLR had put a stop to that. It was lumpy, most of my mates didn't like the look of the thing and eventually I parted with it before I threw it in the River Tay. I haven't had a bike for a while and decided I'd get back into it once I'd moved from Dundee to Lincoln. I didn't want a twin and I wanted a bike for under £2k to start me off again. I found the ideal bike in the form of an RF900 on a 96 (N) plate. I was aware that it was an extremely underrated bike, but I didn't believe how much so until I rode it home. It was brilliant. The bike is quite clean, with a couple of scratches on the tank and fairing, but nothing to set alarm bells ringing. There is no sign of it being dropped or badly abused and at 23k miles, it's not long in the tooth either. My only real coomplaint is I find the gearbox very clunky, but if I remember right, the TLR was like that too.
Once I'd regained some forgotten confidence, I squeezed into my leathers and set off for a lengthy ride to really get to know the bike. When I gave it some stress for the first time, I was really amazed at how this bike shifted. It is bloody quick! And it handles 10 times better than I thought it would...and to be fair, it handles 20 times better than it's looks permit. I have no intention of parting with this machine for a good while, I'll be keeping her for at least a year and a half, rack up some Scottish miles and then trade her in for a GSXR1000, I think. I would recommend this bike to anyone who has been off bikes for a while or to bikers who want a more comfortable sports tourer. For the biker on a budget, like me, it's great value for money, the MPG is around 35-40 (and I'm 16 stone), but the main factors is that it is so comfortable, it looks a bit different, it goes like shit of a shovel and handles like a dream. It's quite cheap to insure too.

Hi ,bought my RF off ebay and rode it home 400 miles which was a nice introduction to it ,after owning a Pan with with all the weather protection that it gives you ,it took me a few miles to get into the swing of things ,it has a few upgrades on it ,Scorpion can, heated grips external socket for GPS or whatever ,six pot calipers ,but i would like some info on some other things such as tyres as i do a 70 mile commute every day on dual carraige way roads the rear is squared off, also where can i get higher risers and straight bars? The perils of buying off ebay,no brake lights ,when i checked the bulbs in the rear they were different sizes it also has mini indicators that flash quicker than a fiddlers elbow, also no spring in the right hand foot peg,so i have to be carefull with my feet. The chain was brown but i lubed it before i took it home but i will fit an oiler ,is a Scottoiler the best or are there other oilers on the market i could use,any other info would be much appriciated ,just one other thing ,after reading the mpg and miles to the tank i have been getting roughly 130 to the tank before reserve,is this normal?

Suzuki RF900-R, the underdog from the get go due to the overwhelming popularity of the Honda CBR900-RR (Fireblade); possibly one of the most hyped bikes on the road, with a cult following even before tyre touched tarmac.

The RF has stood the test of time and has proved itself to be not only a worthy alternative, but in some ways the better choice (build quality, reliability and repair costs being prime examples).

Would i recommend the RF9 to others ... YES, without a shadow of a doubt. It's just a wonderful bike to ride, delivering 'Exactly what it says on the tin' and without any of the hype given to the Fireblade. For my money the RF9 just ticks all the right boxes: Speed, Power, Handling, Comfort, Running cost ...... etc.

My own RF9 is a little bit special; coming fully loaded with upgrades and additions. This has been done not because of accident or damage, but rather as a minds-eye project gone out of control and seriously over budget. All started by the previous oner, but redone from top to toe on arrival to me.

Where to start:
Upgraded Hayabusa suspension to take the weight of yours truly (not a small bloke) and improve handling.
GSXR1100 forks and brakes (smooth ride / stops on a dime).
Bandit 1200 polished yokes and risers, linked to a set of Redline straight bars/bar ends (metallic red).
Custom seat (lowered) to improve comfort and better fit the copious glutimous-maximous-posterious.
Polished/dimpled custom pegs front and rear (just cause i liked them).
Colour coded Suzuki rims; good quality tyres that work in rain and shine; covered by Suzuki original fender extenders (you know why).
Complete Scorpion race system with colour coded can (sounds so sweet).
Prior to this, the whole bike was stripped (inc the engine) and rebuilt from the ground up (or should i say - frame out) and professionally set-up.
Almost every nut, bolt and fastening on the bike has been replaced/upgraded to a polished equivalent.

* That's my bike: Its not a flashy bike; it's not a new bike; but its my bike and few would pass her if she was in a hurry to get home - lol.

937cc / 130bhp / 165++mph

"Is she for sale" you ask? - Why for the right offer, yes she is - but not cheap!

Lovely styling (don't just believe what you read) make your own mind up. GSXR600 power. Comfier than a CBR600. This Bike is so underrated it's unbelievable. I have had mine for 2.5 years and still love it.

Yes it's me again the Sussex Cowboy TEX, guess what I have ridden one of these RF900, OK it was only a Demo ride, but the bike was GOOD in fact better than I expected from Suzuki, Star Wars plastic's, meaning the size was quite over whelming when parked up, but on the move light, very responsive, feeling solid and as secure as say a ZZR1100/1200,but maybe it was designed to compete in that field who knows, understated bike deserved to run longer, but RF600 proved to stay more marketable for some reason, as a Sports tourer with the right Luggage kit, good for long distance, but unless you are fairly strong in upper body strength, not suitable for scratching around country lanes, not for the meek ! more for the weekend Geek, that's a bit unfair actually, good in it's time, and short lived career, good weather protection, nasty bills if dropped, plastic every where, I LIKED IT, but would not have bought one brand new TEX !!!!!

I swapped a suzuki bandit(1997) for a rf900(1995)thought i had got a good deal. The rf900 was accident damaged, but was not declared and was patched up.When i was changing the plugs i found a crack running behind the vin plate,on further inspection i found it to be all body filler around that section .I now have completely rebuilt the rf900 to the tune of £1650 and now handles like a dream just a bit on the heavy side though. It still keeps up with the ninjas(636)and cbrs
